the tacmap device is a small, cell phone sized case that fits on an infantryman's plate carrier. the tacmap provides basic information such as time of day, compass heading, and an overhead map. but where this system really shines is the data sharing. soldiers can use their standard issue rangefinder to mark locations (depending on what kind a ping will show up on the map green yellow or red) which are then then marked on the map for all friendlies. officers have access to use a stylus to draw on the map in different colors to command soldiers more easily. this system can easily be installed into vehicles such as ifvs and tanks as well. and scout drone operators have the ability to share enemy positions. but the best part is that the tacmap shows all friendly positions, heavily reducing friendly fire as well as aiding cohesion. the tac map takes all these benefits and puts them into a compact and affordable package which can be carried by every infantryman. (in some cases the tacmap costs less than civilian phones!) export of military versions are limited to members of the nnt, but civilian versions are open to all markets.
