Mama and Papa were out hunting. Mama and Papa had left the two of them all alone, curled up in a bush for safety's sake. Both of their eyes had yet to open, but the smaller of the two stirred slightly at the scent of an unfamiliar cat. Not Mama. Not Papa. Someone new. The smaller kit's movements forced the two of them deeper into the bush and this time, instead of the gray and brown loner finding the two of them, they simply passed the two kits by. When Mama and Papa came back, they did not find the two of their kits missing. They did not believe that some creature had come while they were gone to steal their precious children. Instead, they returned to find the two of their kits safe, exactly as they had left them. The perfect little family. --- Mama was actually named Taiga. She was grayish, just like her daughter, and had pretty green eyes like her son. Papa was named Inferno. He was a fiery color, just like his son, and had yellow eyes that matched none of them. They had named their two kits Morpho and Viceroy, after the butterflies that swarmed their home in all seasons but leafbare, but mainly in newleaf and greenleaf. They had no group, no claim to a territory. They had nothing but themselves. But they were happy. Morpho still formed the Burrowing Shadows, but when she was older. When Mama and Papa finally trusted her and Viceroy enough to venture closer to the clans. Viceroy still focused on his training, but this time joy stayed more carefree. This time, the opposite littermate found grins and giggles. Morpho... not so much. After a few stumbles, Mama insisted her smaller child stick by her side, despite Morpho's protests that she only needed time. Time didn't help. A wolf attack that just barely didn't kill Papa cemented Mama's decision. Morpho still snuck into UrchinClan's territory, fueled by curiosity over what clan life was like in general. But this time, they didn't get caught, stopped by Mama before she could get close enough to camp for that to happen. They were happy. A small, happy family. Just... Morpho would still stare longingly at the clans, wondering if perhaps, if they were safe within those borders, Mama wouldn't have been quite so overbearing of her. Because out in the open, the wolves could get them.
