{Setting: Space-Time Distortion} Silver’s eyes glimmer, as a sense of relief sets in over him, recalling what he had been through to get here while watching the god’s collapse…but at the same time, the young hedgehog has a strange feeling in his chest. Something in his heart is telling him that, somehow…this still wasn’t the end. Though no one else appears to share in that feeling…except for one. Sonic: *staring up at Solaris with a calm, but serious look* … Solaris’ entire body soon implodes into a blast of white light, and the light consumes everything. At another point in time… Nova: … *winces, then her eyes flutter open. As she comes out of her daze, and feeling returns to her body, she comes to realize she’s lying on a cold tile floor* … *her ear turns to a pair of unfamiliar voices speaking in the room* ? Nova sits up with a weary face as she rubs her chest and gazes about the room. Large pillars line the sides of the dark room, while at one end, there’s a pair of giant doors, and at the other…a white glow comes from an orb in the wall. In front of it stand a man and a little girl. Nova: ! *ducks behind one of the pillars, then cautiously peers out as she thinks: Where am I?* The man leans down beside the girl, as she stands on her tippy toes. Together they admire a small white flame resting safely behind the clear orb. Around it is a silver oval casing built into the wall, decorated with silver wings at the sides. Duke of Soleanna: Look, Elise…this is Solaris, the flame of hope. Nova: ! *her eyes widen as she barely catches her gasp* Young Elise: *blissful smile* It’s so beautiful… Duke of Soleanna: When the flame has grown large enough, our world will change. *looks to his daughter* Solaris will allow us to control time and move through history. People will be able to rectify past mistakes and avoid a bitter fate. Young Elise: *gazes up at her Father* Will we be able to see Momma? Nova: … *her hand tightly grips the side of the side of the pillar as her ears lower* Duke of Soleanna: Yes, Elise. *lovingly strokes her hair* We’ll both be able to see your Mother once again. His daughter’s face shines with joy, then the two take one another’s hand and begin to walk towards the doors. Nova fully conceals herself in the dark behind the pillar again. Young Elise: … *looks back at the flame once more as it continues to softly glow* The Duke looks back with her in a melancholy manner, then turns away and leads his daughter out of the room. Nova: *cautiously watches as they leave* … For a brief moment, in place of the Duke and the Princess…Nova sees her Father again, with her by his side. They walk together as she happily clutches his hand. The doors open, then shut firmly behind them. Nova: *grasps the rings dangling from her necklace as her breath sputters, but she deeply inhales to calm herself* …I’ll see them again soon. *her eyes lock onto the flame* … *goes to step out, but the doors suddenly open again* ?! *ducks back into hiding* A different set of footsteps click across the floor, and Nova peers on in disbelief. Sonic and Elise now walk through the room together, approaching Solaris’ flame. Nova: *thinks: What?! How are they here?!* As they step up to the case on the wall, they stop and stare at the flame quietly, before Elise breaks the silence. Elise: This is where everything began. *stares at the orb containing the fire thoughtfully* …who knew such a tiny flame could bring such devastation? *steps up closer* At the raise of her hand, the clear bubble-like orb dissipates. Elise reaches and picks up the silver holder the flame hovers over, bringing it close to her. Elise: If we put out this flame, Solaris will never exist…and then we’ll never have to worry about the Flames of Disaster, right? Nova: ! *her tail tucks down as she anxiously stares at Elise, then thinks: You can’t freeze up again! You can’t let this happen! YOU HAVE TO MOVE!* … *but her shaking legs lock into place* Sonic: *nods* … Elise: *her blank expression starts to give way as her brows furrows* …but our encounter…*turns to Sonic* …you and I will never meet. It will never have happened. Sonic: *gazing back at her* … Elise: *her breathes become heavy as she hesitates to speak* …I…to tell the truth… *shame comes over her face as tears pool in her eyes, then one rolls down her cheek as she cries out* I don’t care what happens to the world! *lowers her head* Sonic: …Elise. Elise: … *peers back at him, and meets his reassuring eyes* Sonic: *speaks softly to her* Just smile. Elise: … *she straightens back up and composes herself* … *warmly smiles at Sonic with her teary eyes* Sonic: *smiles back at her and gives her a nod* Elise nods as well to him, takes a final look at the flame, then brings it closer as she readies a breath…and Nova’s heart clenches.
