yo wassup everyone this is Rue in the building!! cough cough anyways hi welcome to my application (wow so cool amirite) short introduction hi! like I said earlier, I’m Rue (although I also go by Felix!) and use they/he/she/any pronouns. I’ve been a member of DbD since the Nick Wilde situation, which I believe was around New Year’s? I reside in PT, which is UTC-7/8. I am 13 years old, and going to 8th grade soon. experience yes, in fact I do! I am currently a manager of Stray Kids Cental, which is Scratch’s largest Stray Kids fanclub. it has around 1475 curators, and I specifically manage inviting people. in the past, I’ve also hosted a roleplay before. as well as I managed a rp @calliepillars hosted on one of their accounts. along with managing a few communities for my friends before. reasoning I would like to become a manager for Different by Design, because I want to help out the community. the people I met here are truly wonderful, and I know the managers have a lot, and I want to help them out. also, there are some problems in DbD that I believe I could help with; for example helping with the management and providing support safely. lowk also bc changing the studio thumbnail and doing silly stuff during my shift would be fun what it means to be manager personally, I think being a manager entails handling the community with firmness and making sure everyone follows the rules, while still keeping the community friendly. when issues arise, managers should be able to control it well. I think it also means they are the ones who shape the studio! the environment depends on their actions. if a manager hosts events, then the people will feel closer. if a manager only critiques others, then tensions will rise. strengths I think I would make an excellent manager for a few reasons. for one, I have an extensive history of similar roles. both online and irl, I have played a lot of roles requiring leadership. I can have fun with others while still maintaining firm boundaries and rules. another reason is because I try to interact with others. one thing I really don’t like is the reply culture in DbD, and I try to reply to others as much as can—for sunshine or just random comments. weaknesses I fear that I do have a lot of activities and things to do, and that load will especially become heavier once school starts. although, I have always found time in the past to balance it out. ideas hear me out—actually closing the studio when the Design Delay reaches 0. I know this is hard, and I don’t expect it to always happen. but I feel like more often than not, closures happen AFTER hours have already passed. the point of closures is to prevent more rule breakage and remind people. but what’s the point when the people who caused it to go down are already offline? I understand though that life does happen, but for my shift I’ll try to close as soon as possible. another idea I have is improving the reply culture. perhaps do a little shoutout thing for when someone is interacting a lot? and also community building events! I know the aes comm kinda does this. but doing events that push people to interact with others they haven’t before? I’ve noticed people tend to talk to those they’re familiar with—which I too am a victim of—so this would hopefully get them to engage with each other more. availability and activity for availability - 8/10, cannot go on Scratch during school, but I am always available otherwise activity - 6/10, when I’m online I’m not always on DbD! thank you for this opportunity, and thank you to the managers for your hard work <3
