༄ In What Distant Deeps or Skies? - Application ❝ Para-paranoia, you've been here before. ❞ ࿔ Name Tai. Tyler Ashthorne-Wang. (王泰勒 (Wang Tai Le) or 勒勒 (Lele) in Chinese) ࿔ Pronouns He/they/any (Try not to use ze/hir or ze/zir) Primarily uses he/him, they/them is acceptable for friends and aquaintances Genderfaun ࿔ Age (average ages are from 18-24) 20 yrs ࿔ Appearance: height, hair, eyes, etc ~ Short Blue-black hair ~ A braid by the side of his face ~ Brown eyes ~ Somewhat pale ~ Light freckles from sun exposure ~ Constantly carrying a small notebook (Blue denim hard cover) and pen (black gel), constantly writes in it as well ~ About 5'8" or 170 cm ࿔ Poem The Tyger by William Blake ࿔ How did this poem shape them? ~ This is more metaphorical than literal!! The poem is about a tiger, it's kinda hard to take it literally. ~ Long story summarised, The Tyger is about the duality of creation, and duality in general. Tai's whole life is a balance of heavy expectations and the longing to just be a 20 yr old, once in a while. ~ The poem also talks about the tiger in a way that seems almost mythical ("Twist the sinews of thy heart?", "Thy fearful symmetry", so uh... Tai was put on a pedestal by his parents; everything he did had to be perfect, and that's why he has the notebook. He's forgetful, that's a flaw he has and he's trying to prevent it. ~ Since there's also 'did he who made the lamb make thee?', which is. Pondering. Tai has a sibling who's really different from him. And he has no idea how the same two people with basically the same parenting style throughout both their childhood produced two people who were basically opposites. ࿔ Personality (+) Adaptable, Perceptive, Confident, Ambitious, Resourceful (=) Philosophical, Pessimistic, Meticulous, Curious, Stubborn (-) Forgetful, Avoidant of issues (if possible at the time) + Evasive in general, Disconnected (in relationships), Obsessive over details (Connects to being meticulous), Apologetic ࿔ Job, if applicable English tutor for Yr 4s at a small tutoring service (located semi-nearby, the bookshop would be something he passes every now and then during his commutes), still trying to figure out life. Considering a degree in something, but Tai has no clue. ࿔ Birthday (this takes place in 2026) August 10th, 2006 ࿔ Favourite book ~ The Tyrant's Tomb (Trials of Apollo) ~ Or like. Something similar to that. IDK ngl ࿔ Backstory (More will be added as I think of stuff) ~ Considered 'gifted' as a child to a degree ~ Somehow never skipped a grade ~ Won a school-writing competition once in primary school ~ British-Chinese, but grew up in near the location of the bookshop probably ~ Parents are pretty disapproving of Tai not knowing where to take his life ~ Has never had a partner + always questioning existence and identity ~ Has a sibling! She's 4 yrs younger than Tai (Marie Ashthorne-Wang, 王玛丽 (Wang Ma Li)) ~ You know what, he's completely fine + normal! :D ࿔ Other ~ Above average media literacy, still manages to miss huge details sometimes (Too busy obsessing over tiny details haha) ~ Reads a lot of fiction. Tai'll claim he reads a bunch of books by experts in science but he doesn't actually. He borrows them, reads 3 chapters, and forgets everything. ~ Leaves his notebook behind constantly, always ends up finding it but he /will/ get super irritable and agitated when he can't find his stuff. ~ Absolutely terrible memory despite being meticulous, expect him to forget names and dates and details if he doesn't have access to his notebook. Or if he has access to that book, he's too stubborn to use it sometimes. ~ Might not learn other peoples' names, probably will pick up from it chatting with others. (And he's usually too embarrassed abt it to ask) ~ Really likes Minecraft related story-telling and indie animation, but can't animate. Tai has tried. ~ He can, however, draw! Pretty well, he's got a slightly cartoony style. ~ Can stay calm easily during huge group problems, can't stay calm when he loses something he owns ~ Favourite animal is the striated thornbill, but he likes thornbills in general. Second favourite is the short-toed treecreeper. ~ Absolutely terrified of issues with difficult solutions. He can solve them, sure, but he'd rather not deal with them in the first place. ~ If he can't solve an issue immediately, he procrastinates. That's why he's teaching English instead of thinking about his future. ~ This is literally my favourite poem I HAD to do it ~ My activity level is about 5-6/10 usually, and I'm on every 2-3 days. During holidays, I'll usually be on once or twice a day ~ Tbh kinda love him kinda hate him (He's got a bunch of habits I personally have sooo) ~ I'm Small-Fragile-Hearts-ing every character oh my gosh XD
