Sometimes, there are different values assigned to the same object. This is because there are different systems of assigning values to celestial bodies. - Dyadic system: only fractions whose denominator is a power of two are allowed (e.g. 21/64, 15/32) (no limit on size of denominator, but usually up to 16 is enough) - Triadic system: the denominator can also contain factors of three (e.g. 55/108, 91/144) (denominator is preferably a factor of 144, and additionally 27 or 32 in Chapter 3) - Decimal system: only terminating decimals in base-ten are allowed

To make things consistent, snapping is done so that the ordering of the objects are preserved no matter which system is used. Except for Chapter 3, all objects whose denominator is 2, 4, 8 or 16 do not need to be snapped. For Chapter 3, owing to the large number of objects in the asteroid belt, 1/32 intervals do not need to be snapped either.
