She had a Korean mother and a British father, though ended up being born in Hawaii and stayed there until she was seven and her family moved to Britain with yearly visits to Korea. As a child she was reminded constantly that she would, /must/ do something great with her life. And so she studied hard and even won a few piano competitions. She was eligible to skip a grade more than a couple of times, but decided despite her parents' assurance she would be fine, that she wanted to stay and learn with her own small circle of friends of Riley and Lauren. In highschool, when she was sixteen, Riley, Lauren and her were driving down to the airport for their yearly vacation consisting of just the three of them for two weeks. This had been a tradition, though they had only been allowed not to go with their parents this year since they all knew how to drive. This year they were going to Japan, and Storm had been waiting for so long in excitement, the thought of everything that they would do, see, and eat, in her thoughts when she woke up, went to bed, and dreamed. Everything was going great, in fact, they were so close to the airport now... until it wasn't. A truck crashed into them and got them into a bad accident, colliding with three other cars. Storm luckily ended up surviving with only her right arm broken, and thankfully so did the people in the other cars, except Riley and Lauren... didn't. Storm broke down at their funerals, and vowed never to get close with /anyone/ ever again. Storm had a boyfriend - Thomas - and didn't know how she could leave him though. They had been sweethearts since she was fourteen, and she'd already been asked to prom. Overjoyed, she'd said yes, and had gone prom dress shopping with Riley and Lauren, both picking out dresses they loved. Riley planned to go with a girl named Ally, and Lauren planned to go with a boy named Mark. Storm had picked a gorgeous navy blue strapless dress that made her look like a diamond when she twirled. Riley had picked a soft green dress with flowing sleeves and Lauren had picked a soft baby pink off the shoulders dress with small gems embroidered onto the hem. When prom came, Storm plastered a fake smile on her face and managed to dance awkwardly with Thomas for one song, then ran out sobbing when Thomas asked if anything was wrong. Storm sat on a bench on the other side of the street right in front of the children's park, shaded by a tree, mascara running down her face as Thomas approached with two cups of punch and offered her one. He sat down next to her and said nothing, just hugged her tight until she had cried so much there was no possible way for her to even cry in the next week. They walked around the park for a little while before going inside and dancing with each other to the last song. Needless to say, she ended up staying with Thomas and is with him now in college.. Much to her parents disliking, she applied to major in art and got accepted into UC Berkely, not a good enough school for her parents since they wanted her to go to Harvard or Yale, but good enough for her. Thomas goes to the same college, majoring in business in the hopes of starting up his own company, and Storm spends her free time either hanging out with him or reading a new book. ▹ other - I think I lowkey wrote too much backstory :sob:
A Thunderstorm The wind begun to rock the grass With threatening tunes and low, - He flung a menace at the earth, A menace at the sky. The leaves unhooked themselves from trees And started all abroad; The dust did scoop itself like hands And throw away the road. The wagons quickened on the streets, The thunder hurried slow; The lightning showed a yellow beak, And then a livid claw. The birds put up the bars to nests, The cattle fled to barns; There came one drop of giant rain, And then, as if the hands That held the dams had parted hold, The waters wrecked the sky, But overlooked my father's house, Just quartering a tree.
