hear no evil, speak no evil…. do no evil. > in this au, plunderpaw spies on sorastar instead of asking permission to accompany him. after following sorastar without his permission towards star’s mouth, he witnesses the meeting with dustbunny from the safety of the bushes. little does he know… dustbunny sees all. dustbunny finds plunderpaw watching and, as punishment for meddling with the leader’s business, removes their ability to speak. that way, plunderpaw cannot share what he’s heard at this secret meeting. plunderpaw watches and hears everything, returning to camp to warn grandeurphantom, but finds himself unable to speak. fearful, he flees urchinclan and tries to join mossclan to right his wrongs and undo the curse… but delphine refuses to poison her young with urchinclan influence and turns him away. plunderpaw becomes a loner named Phantom, quite literally wandering alone and unable to speak. on a lighter note, he attempts to learn sign from his direct family in his dreams to at least communicate with others though he refuses to share how he lost his mouth. he knows they are watching.
