Name History: Fox Kids Network (1990-1995) Fox Kids (1995-present) Fox Kids on Fox (1995-present; alternate name) Short History: The Fox Kids Network block launched in 1990. Prior to that, the Fox network had Disney run its Saturday morning and weekday afternoon timeslots from 1987 to 1989, before being replaced by reruns of classic cartoons for the 1989 season. The block ran primarily on Saturday Mornings for 3 hours from 8am to 11am, with it also airing on weekday afternoons from 3pm to 5pm. Fox Kids would expand both of its programming hours in 1991, with the Saturday morning block running now running from 7am to 12pm, and the weekday afternoon block running from 2pm to 5pm. In 1994, New World Holdings, Inc. would merge with News Corporation US (parent company of Fox Kids) forming News Corp USA. In 1995, the Fox Kids network block was renamed to Fox Kids, following the launch of the Fox Kids Channel. In 1996, News Corp USA acquired Saban Entertainment, turning the company into Fox Kids' production studio. The block expanded to weekday mornings from 6am to 9am in 1997, replacing the FTA version of the Fox Cubhouse block. In 2001, AOL, Inc. (parent company of Stagecast) would merge with News Corp USA forming AOL News Corp. Fox Kids & Stagecast would merge their operations, forming Fox Kids-Stagecast. The weekday morning block ended in 2005 due to low ratings, followed by the weekday afternoon block in 2008. Thus, Fox Kids was now just a Saturday morning block. AOL News Corp's name was altered in 2008 to News Corp AOL. Stagecast was sold off during the reorganization with Fox Kids-Stagecast becoming Fox Kids, Inc. News Corp AOL later changed its name to Fox Media in 2013 as a way to emphasize its flagship assets which included the Fox network (which Fox Kids aired on).
