About the song: This song was written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez for the 2017 movie Coco. The husband-and-wife songwriting team actually wrote it as a personal lullaby for their own kids because they had to travel so much for work. When they pitched it to Pixar, they purposely designed the song to have a double meaning. Depending on how it's played, it completely changes vibes. In the movie, it starts out as a flashy, upbeat pop/mariachi track sung by a famous celebrity. But later on, you find out it was actually written to be played simply and tenderly as a private message between a father and his daughter. It went on to win the Oscar for Best Original Song, and it’s become a modern classic because of how much emotion is packed into such a simple melody. That gentle, lullaby version is the vibe I’m going for with the tenor sax!
