── ⋅ ── Highclan Territory Guide Far above the forests of Eldritch, where the wind never truly falls silent, lies the territory of Highclan. Their homeland stretches across towering plateaus, sheer cliffs, rolling alpine meadows, and narrow mountain passes suspended high above the lands below. Here, the air is cool and crisp, storms arrive without warning, and every journey requires confidence in your footing. To outsiders, Highclan's territory appears almost impossible to reach. From below, the cliffs seem endless, disappearing into blankets of cloud. Yet hidden among the stone are countless ancient pathways carved by generations of Windcats. Some are broad enough for patrols to travel comfortably, while others are little more than narrow ledges known only to experienced warriors. Woven rope bridges, cliffside ladders, and natural stone arches connect many sections of the plateau, allowing Highclan (and other on occasion) to travel safely where most creatures would never dare. Despite the dangerous terrain, Highclan is anything but isolated. Their elevated homeland overlooks much of Eldritch, making them the first to notice approaching storms, migrations, or distant smoke. Envoys and patrols regularly descend the mountain trails to visit neighboring clans, and every major route has been carefully maintained for countless generations. ── ⋅ ── The Land The plateau itself is surprisingly vast. Open grasslands ripple like waves beneath the constant breeze, broken only by scattered pine + birch groves, wildflower fields, rocky outcroppings, and deep ravines. Small alpine streams carve their way toward the cliffs before plunging into spectacular waterfalls that feed the rivers below. The higher one climbs, the stranger the landscape becomes. Thin clouds drift across the ground, frost can linger even during Greenleaf mornings, and birds are often seen flying below the tallest peaks rather than above them. ── ⋅ ── Climate Highclan experiences some of the strongest weather in Eldritch. • Constant winds year-round • Cool temperatures, especially at night • Frequent fog along cliff edges • Sudden mountain storms • Heavy snowfall • Brilliant sunrises and sunsets visible from nearly every ridge ── ⋅ ── Traveling Although reaching Highclan is difficult, leaving it is much easier once the routes are known. The clans share several ancient mountain trails that descend toward the forests below. These paths have existed for generations and are considered neutral travel routes, allowing messengers, envoys, and peaceful visitors to safely travel between territories. Some trails wind gradually through forests and switchbacks. Others descend steep staircases carved directly into the cliffs. Only experienced cats know every shortcut. ── ⋅ ── Notable Landmarks ✧ Aurevain The highest point in all of Eldritch. From its windswept stone overlook, nearly every clan's territory can be seen on a clear day. It is said Zephros circles overhead whenever a great decision is made here. ✧ The Virell Steps An enormous series of naturally formed stone terraces that create Highclan's primary route to the lower territories. Though steep, they are among the safest mountain paths in Eldritch. ✧ Cloudmere pond A shallow alpine lake so perfectly still that it reflects the sky without distortion. On misty mornings it becomes nearly impossible to tell where water ends and clouds begin. ✧ The Kestral Veil Hundreds of towering stone pillars rising from deep fog-filled valleys. Razorwings often nest among these impossible spires. ✧ Skyrift Pass A narrow cliff route no wider than two warriors. It is the quickest path to Groveclan, but also one of the most dangerous during storms. ✧ Whispering Reaches Rolling fields of waist-high silver grass where the wind produces constant, flute-like songs. Many apprentices complete their final assessment here. ✧ Zephyr Gates Two colossal stone arches standing naturally at the entrance to Highclan territory. Passing beneath them is considered entering Highclan itself.

Falling is one of the greatest dangers of the plateau, so apprentices spend countless hours climbing, leaping, and navigating narrow ledges. Rope bridges, weather markers, lookout towers, and cliff paths are maintained year-round, making travel safer for every Clanmate. The open skies shape every part of Highclan life. Conversations carry farther on the wind. Storms can be seen long before they arrive. Feathers are treasured as gifts from Zephros, and every sunrise reminds the Clan that the world stretches far beyond the cliffs they call home. To outsiders, Highclan appears to live at the edge of the world. To those born there, the sky has always been home.
