── ⋅ ── Envoys While every clan has warriors to defend its borders, each also appoints an Envoy to maintain the relationships beyond them. Envoys are diplomats, messengers, travelers, and observers whose purpose is to ensure the clans remain connected, even during times of disagreement. Like a Deputy or Leader, Envoys are a separate rank, yet have the same training. They are fully trained warriors who simply take on an additional responsibility. They still hunt, patrol, defend their clan, and participate in everyday life alongside their clanmates. Not every warrior is suited for the position. Envoys are typically chosen for qualities such as: * Patience * Confidence * Honesty * Good communication * Open-mindedness * Curiosity * Calmness under pressure * The ability to mediate conflict An Envoy represents their entire clan whenever they travel. Their words often carry as much weight as the leader's, making the position one of great trust. ── ⋅ ── Traveling Between Clans Envoys are the only warriors permitted to freely travel between clan territories (Although typically trespassing is not too much of a problem due to the distinct territories). Unlike ordinary warriors, they are not considered trespassers and may cross borders without permission, provided they announce themselves respectfully and behave as guests while visiting. Although they are welcomed, they are still expected to respect each clan's customs, rules, and privacy. Most journeys involve visiting a single clan before returning home, though this can vary depending on current events or personal relationships. ── ⋅ ── OORP vs. IRP Duties ── OORP To keep the role active without becoming overwhelming, Envoys are only required to roleplay one (1) visit to another clan each IRL month. Additional visits are always encouraged but are never required. ── IRP In-roleplay, those monthly roleplays usually represent an Envoy spending anywhere from a single afternoon to several days visiting another clan before returning home. Sometimes an Envoy may travel frequently for several moons. Other times, they may remain within their own territory for long periods if relations are peaceful or there is little news to share. ── ⋅ ── Responsibilities During their travels, Envoys may: * Deliver announcements or important messages. * Carry invitations between clans. * Observe how neighboring clans are faring. * Help resolve misunderstandings before they become larger conflicts. * Build friendships across borders. * Learn about other clans' cultures and traditions. * Report notable events back to their own leader. * Occasionally assist with hunting, patrols, or camp duties if invited. Their purpose is not to spy, but to strengthen communication between the clans. ── ⋅ ── Envoy Gatherings Although Envoys often travel alone, they occasionally gather with one another outside of normal clan visits. These informal meetings allow Envoys to exchange news directly with every clan at one time, discuss concerns, and keep communication flowing between every clan without each Envoy needing to make multiple separate journeys. Unlike gatherings with entire clans, these meetings are small, relaxed, and focused entirely on diplomacy rather than politics. ── ⋅ ── The Envoy's Call As a fun little tradition, every Envoy develops their own unique whistle or call. Other Envoys learn to recognize these signatures over time, allowing them to identify one another from surprisingly long distances. It's not uncommon for two Envoys traveling through the same stretch of forest to locate each other simply by exchanging whistles! ── ⋅ ──
