It was the apprentice ceremony, the chill of leafbare was coming, and Sorastar's words rang out across the camp. Deep was /not/ chosen for this, the fear coursed through his veins at not leaving a mark in his life. Power be damned, he wouldn't throw away his life for that. The life of a /medic./ "No," he whispered to himself, the words lost on the breeze. He didn't run away to blow off steam as soon as Sorastar said those words that day. He stayed still in his place, shaking with rage. As Luminescentbud came up to him, to talk to him, congratulate him, whatever mentors did, he whirled around to face them. "No," he repeated, spitting out the words this time, his ears staying perked. "I'm not gonna become /weak/ like all of you. You medics." A few heads turned, and those he did hear started nervously whispering to each other. When nothing happened, Deep took a step forward. "NO, I'm NOT going to become a medic," he repeated. His eyes narrowed, and his tail lashed slightly. As the murmurs around him grew to a crescendo, Deep yowled, "Shut UP!" As silence blanketed the clearing once more, it was interrupted by a voice. "Deep?" He didn't know who it was. He didn't care enough to notice, so he blindly turned, and ran out of the camp. Someone chased after him though. Another medic, a worried warrior, maybe one of his friends. He didn't care about that either. They were at the rocks near the sea when they finally caught up to him, and said, "Dee-" Their words were cut off by Deep's hefty slam, pushing them over the edge and onto the jagged rocks below. He didn't have to look to know the damage he did. Voices soon emerged in the distance, and Deep knew there would be no time to try and help. There was only one option now. He ran.
(once he found his life as a loner, deep would have dismantled his pearl headdress. he only let himself have one pearl. for every cat he killed, he added another. it got to the point that he was hunting them for game, the idle life of a loner giving him no other source of amusement. he eventually had to collect even more pearls, and was able to swipe two pretty shells off one of his victims, fixing them to his headdress. the kits of urchinclan were taught to never trust a loner in pearls.)
