—the angel’s tale— [angler hookmouth, district 4 tribute, he/fae] Angler fiddled with his tie, waiting in the hallway outside the interviews room, cramped in with each other tribute. Fae watched anxiously as each other tribute trickled out, one by one. It seemed as if district four was last, just faem and faer district-mates stood then and there. Then, finally, his name. And the right one this time, at that Angle padded out softly, taking in the stares of the crowd and offering them a small smile. His outfit was another suit, but this gave an almost angelic cast, orange-and-cream to complement some of his markings, plus equipped with some fishnet and tiny fake-glimmering wings. His stylist, Fawn Glimmerlin was the only Capitol cat he had ever enjoyed talking to, and he knew fae would only get to see the warm-brown tom once or twice more after this, a fact that made him sad. Ellema was smiling warmly at Glee when they shook paws, the older molly’s face seemed delighted to meet him, though for all Angler knew, it could be a ruse. “Angler Hookmouth of district… four, i presume? Unless I somehow. Have the wrong tribute?” She mewed, gesturing for him to sit in a fluffy, could-shaped chair. “That’s right, you’ve got me.” Fae meowed back, putting his paws up as if caught. Ellema let out a small laugh at this, as did some of the crowd before continuing. Angler enjoyed the attention somewhat, but it also put him very slightly on edge, and a quiet ringing sound started up in his ears. How curious “Now I’m sure you know what I’m about to ask next, but what /was/ that about at the reaping, darling? Did they have the wrong records or something?” Chirped Ellema, her smile soft and eyes bright. Angler stopped for a moment, realizing he /was/ expecting this. Didn’t make it any less brutal of course, and as soon as the interviewer’s words finished out the ringing ramped up, loud and hard in his ears. Fae scrambled to get words out then, to stop the sound. “Ah, no. That’s just… my old name.” He managed to get out, and it certainly wasn’t a lie. The ringing lessened considerably at that, and he sat back with the same small smile again. “I see, your family must’ve forgotten to registerer that change then. Speaking of family, i heard you have /seven/ sisters, is that right?” Ellema looked to the crowd with a cheeky little grin. “That’s just so many!” “Err yes, and they’re all wonderful. I’m truly excited to hopefully return to them after this, and my parents, ‘course.” Angler blanched slightly when his accent slipped a little bit, the rough voice many district four cats adopted uncovered briefly. The ringing went up ever-so-slightly. Ellema made no note, of course, just went on again. “And your parade, that performance was just stunning, where’d you learn to dance?” “Oh! From watchin’ the fish mostly. It’s a bit like land swimming if ya think about it.” Glee was surprised by the readiness of his own response, of how he just.. let his accent slip. May as well see if it could win him something. “That’s wonderful, i take you spend a lot of time on the water, correct?” Responded Ellema with a warm smile, as if calmed by him dropped the facade. “Yup. Most of my time is spent fishing or helping around the house. I like to be /doing/ things.” He shifted slightly, and let out a small whistful sigh thinking of the small rocking boat he owned, ‘the angel’s carriage’. “How quaint. Now, i have one more question for you, sweet-pea. What’s your plan for the arena? We haven't seen you making many allies, do you plan to go alone?” Gler was ready for this question. “No, I don’t, jus’ haven’t found the right cat yet.” Fae responded quickly, easily. “Ah, well our time’s up, my little angel. I do hope to see you preform well in he arena, and may the odds be /ever/ in your favor~ toodle-loo!” Ellema waved Angler off the strange then, and he left with an internal smile, realizing how quickly he’d eased into that, played up the ‘country boy’ concept of his reality towards her.
"Well, darlings, that's my cue! I am so very thrilled to meet each and every one of you. There's no need to be nervous; do not fret, this interview is just a tempest in a teapot." Though it is somewhat difficult to make out the ebullient speaker among the herd of tributes and stylists, looking up, you catch a glimpse of a fluffy tail entering the stage door, followed by an uproar of cheers. Moments later, you are quickly grabbed and ushered into line, where the very stylist team that has aided you throughout training now makes their final adjustments and bids you adieu. Is it bittersweet, perhaps, knowing that you are only closer to your fate? Bit by bit, the line inches forward, and you soon watch as the tribute ahead of you exits the stage door, looking slightly rattled. However, you have little time to worry about that, as you are prodded through the door and met with immediate applause. Taking a short bow, you pad across the stage and shake hands with your interviewer, a cream and brown cat with curly fur and a lovely rainbow halo above her head, who introduces you to the Capitol with a soothing, warm voice. Ellema Stratocirrus is immediately invested in you, asking thoughtful questions and nodding along. However, as the interview progresses, you notice what almost sounds like a siren ringing in your ears. Answer well, and the only sound you hear is the audience's approval. Lose your composure or confidence, and you'll see (more like hear) what happens... Due 7/30
