suncupdance welcomed death like an old friend. for many moons, it had walked by her side, matching her stride with quiet patience. step by step. it never rushed, it never fell behind. it waited. one by one, it claimed those she'd loved until, ultimately, only death itself remained. she was alone now, alone to face the darkness creeping in at the edge of her vision. beyond it, the stars shimmered. starry cats lingered just out of reach. oleanderpaw. cottonfluffle. heritagehistory. glistentide. everyone she'd ever loved stood, waiting for her, voices hushed and soft, murmuring like leaves in the wind. but they were always too far away. just beyond her grasp. sunny drew her final breaths alone. disease had rooted itself deep in her chest, tightening its grip, watching her cough and cry and wheeze until at last it took her breath. she died alone. .. yet when she rose to her paws, it was as if a newfound light had been kindled in her chest. the ache in her joints, the weight of old age, vanished like mist in the sun. here, in the stars, those she'd never truly left behind came rushing towards her. old friends. family. there were cats she'd barely known. and cats she'd loved so deeply she spent moons searching for a way to be here with them. they greeted her, soft pelts brushing one another, tails entwining. and beyond them, hidden in the shadows, stood death itself. watching. smiling. it had reunited her with those she loved. it had never been her enemy. it had just been waiting to lead her home. -- my precious girl, suncupdance <3 oh sunny, i love you so so much. thank you for being my first real character. i love you dearly. i cannot believe this day has come and i have to let go of you. despite having this planned for quite a while, it still makes me incredibly sad. .. on september 11th, 2024, i applied for suncupkit of the flowers of the valley litter. i got my dear girl on october 7th, 2024. she made friends with glistenkit off the bat. i applied for medicine cat apprentice.. and somehow she got selected ??? that's where she met heritagehistory. i loved the two of them to be honest. her sister died. oleanderpaw. the rest of her family soon followed. she grieved and grieved, hating starclan. she went on the great journey. and hated them even more for the volcano. when they got to the island where starclan walked among the living, she nearly stayed there,, but she didn't. it was the hardest thing she'd ever done, but she left. glistentide passed. her best friend. the moon to her sun. she grieved. and for many moons, she served as riverclan's sole medicine cat. then she selected her apprentices. but she kept her distance from them, worried that starclan would take them too. she began to have nightmares. she began to fear death. she saw it hiding in the shadows, lurking, waiting for her. and now it has come for her. i'm satisfied with sunny's life, i really am. i think she was my favorite character by far, and she's my girl. .. art by @.mysticitrus writing by @.fawniinq- .. goodbye, suncupdance <3
