Tresca is one of the nine kingdoms that make up Frieskonika. A largely rural realm located in the confederation’s center, the kingdom derives most of its power from its geographical position. Controlling this crucial piece of land means wielding some extra influence over most kingdoms. Both Fried II and Macols IV have been squabbling over the future alignment of the kingdom. However, the throne of Tresca has sat empty for almost five years, with nobody to fill it. The last king vanished with no heirs, leaving the kingdom’s reins in the hand of a weak council of his closest advisors until a new king was found. And now, at the height of the fight for power between Friland and Ulstranca, the regency council has come out with the dreaded news: there is likely no legitimate heir to Tresca. And with that, the regency council was disbanded, leaving absolutely no one to lead the state. This seems like a dumb decision, but that’s what the late king willed. Normally, a kingdom like this would be balkanized or split between multiple extant kingdoms, yet doing so now would throw the power balance of Frieskonika into complete anarchy. So, what will be done about Tresca then? King Fried II has organized a meeting in Nassius, the Trescan capital, with the express purpose of figuring out what will be done as fast as possible, as inaction would lead to anarchy. All the kings of Frieskonika have been invited so the whole country has a say in the matter, alongside a high-ranking Trescan noble to be the Trescan representative. Just so they aren’t left out. While the simmering conflict between Fried II and Macols IV has been mostly cold so far, the decision made in Nassius will shape the future of Frieskonika, its power struggle, and maybe even more.
