The voice in my head Everyone has a voice in their head. One that tells them they aren’t enough. One that tells them they have to do better. One that tells them they will never be enough. One that tells them everyone will always be better than them. But not mine. Mine does not tell, it asks. Mine doesn’t say ‘you’ it says ‘we’. Mine doesn’t mean anything bad it seems. Mine is confused. Everyone else has a voice that is rude and mean, but not me. It asks if we are good enough. It asks if we have to do better. It asks if we will never be enough. It asks if we will always be behind. And I can't answer it. Everyone has a voice in their head. One that acts like a monster. One that speaks rudely. One that speaks clearly. One that looks like themself but is not themself. But not mine. Mine doesn’t act how others do. Mine doesn’t speak like others do. Mine doesn’t talk clearly like others do. Mine doesn’t look like me but feels like me. Everyone else has a monster in them, but not me. Mine has a body I can imagine clearly. A body that I can imagine clearly. Eyes that I can imagine clearly. A brain I can imagine clearly. Everyone else has a voice they can’t imagine, but I do. My voice has long, lanky, and bony limbs with claw-like fingers and toes, They walk on all fours because they are animal, a fox specifically, They have eyes everywhere except where they are supposed to be, Their mouth is stuck together by their own skin, Their skin is black and goopy and viscous, It sticks and melts and wobbles, It glues their mouth and when they open it there are bulky stings of it that attaches to the bottom and top jaw, It makes it so their voice is gargled and hard to use, If people saw them they would call it like its name, Disgusting, Horrific, Monster. They don’t like their name, I know that, And i wish i could change it sometimes, But that’s the name it was given. They don’t act like their name, But they look like it. Their voice wobbles and shakes, They bark like a dog and growl, They whine and whimper, They gargle and spat. They don’t act like their name, But they do when they first meet others giving them a bad reputation. They are child-like, They act like a dog, A golden retriever, They are playful and curious. But they worry too much, And are confused by most things. They are anxious, They are scared, They wonder And they ponder They get so hyper and happy one moment, Then the next they are scared and sad. I want to answer their questions, I really do, But how can i answer something, Without knowing the truth?
