The Duke Class is the Karsvetian navy's answer to the rise of Vertical Launch System embedded combat vessels in the early 1990s, utilising the Vespacian Mk41 VLS system to deploy its ordinance. It is able to employ its 48 VLS cells and 16x canister launchers along with its twin hangar configuration to deploy naval combat helicopters that can act in the recon or ASW roles. The Duke class has since undergone its midlife upgrade in the 2000s, integrating newer AESA radar, electronics and weapons systems such as the SeaRAM close-in-weapons-system. It still retains its original Oto Breda 127/54 naval gun. Currently the Royal Karsvetian Navy currently still operates 8 of such destroyers
