for context, this was on a kpop updates yt short, talking about people claiming that rookie group VAYONN was copying TXT, and i was using a more similar if not equal comparison (basically with the intent of comparing fandoms, but they kinda took it the wrong way but it's not their fault <3) ----------------------------- ENA: Idk I think those songs don’t sound that similar… I’d honestly argue unchild and tomboy sound more similar (I lowkey expected a hate train when they debuted but i-dle’s fandom is more chill ig!!) THEM: This sound WAY MORE similar than unchild and tomboy. Unchild only has similar guitar, bass and the chorus that is that type of "down chorus" where instead of going high, they go low. It doesn't have the many bridges like tomboy, don't have the whistle, and the way they sing it is just completely different. Now this boy group is just a straight up copy paste, they just sang it in a different note. ENA: i personally don't think so (but ofc thats an opinion, we all are entitled to them!!) because it is the instrumental sounding similar, but also vocal flips (and other elements idk the names of), also i could've SWORN i said "the first section of unchild" but we don't talk about that uh... i guess i forgot. anyways, i'm moving onto my reasoning in fuller detail <3 REMINDER THAT THIS IS ALL SAID WITH NO HATE TO MENTIONED GROUPS BTW, JUST PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS TO SOMEWHAT PROVE POINTS ON HOW THINGS CAN BE SIMILAR! PLEASE DON'T GET MAD AT ME FOR THAT: though i'd argue (with no hate towards you idk i'm just worried you'd take it that way) that the "[insert korean] + ah ya ya" part is basically the only similarity in the song. moreover, it has that distinct and common kpop vibe kind of melody and adlibs in many new kpop gen boy groups (eg: kickflip). moreover, i personally think that the pacing and rhythm of the korean part before the "ah ya ya" sounds in both songs sound very different. rather, i feel that vayonn's muah! in that tiny section sounds more like one of tripleS's songs, "generation" at approx 0:57 of the song. although it's a bit different, vayonn's has more swing, constituting the majority of the difference. to juxtapose "unchild vs tomboy" and "muah! vs crown," unchild and tomboy have a instrumental similarity that spans throughout /almost/ the entire song, along with some similar vocal techniques and adlibs. they also (for now) seem to have similar rebellious-type concepts (though unchild sticks more to a slightly more kpop interpretation of this concept while i-dle's is more mature and outspoken given their seniority and soyeon's musical direction, eg: queencard; nxde). on the other hand, muah! and crown only have a melodical/adlib similarity that spans on a matter of seconds, and rather, the instrumental and overall vibe is very different. additionally, vayonn is releasing a song with a common kpop concept seen in many other kpop boy groups. and again, this is all as an opinion of mine, and explanation of why i believe that other debuts sounded more similar. however, i don't believe that any of this should be used to hate, they are simply kpop consistencies that often occur in such a saturated and commercialized industry. my meaning was to show how i don't understand the internet sometimes, since popularity sways so many people. i'm not saying it's wrong to point out similarities, i'm just saying it's wrong to determine a similarity based on a small sectional similarity. in more mainstream pop music, we see so many songs with sectional similarities, yet they never get cancelled. again, no hate, it's personal observations and small quips about the musical industry. ----------------------------- BAHAHA ON A SIDE NOTE, IM CACKLING SO HARD RN BRO XDDDD Omg I YAPPED.
