Why is it that like all my projects get EXACTLY one other view(Scratch counts you in the view count for some reason)? Also, this is actually in progress. So, I recently listened to Retry Now for the first time. I strongly suggest listening to it: it is rather good(slightly creepy, but good nonetheless)! In short, the song was about a magical girl who had the ability to (under Shintoist religious logic, although I myself do not follow that) remember things when she got reincarnated, and (assuming my memory of how that works is right) alter the creature that she and anyone she chooses is reincarnated into. She was desperately and obsessively in love with the subject, and quite literally did a m*rder-suic*de every time the subject figured out what she was doing or denied her. So, I wanted to at least make a book series on this, since I doubt Scratch would ever let me animate that, and for good reason. The way I would do it is actually have her create the ability to force someone to be reincarnated rather than it being a natural thing through the Shinto not-quite-religion(they don’t consider themselves to have a religion). So, basically, we’re ignoring the whole Shintoist concept besides her getting the idea of doing so. The rest couldn’t fit so it’s in the notes/credits.
Past this point is spoilers (VERY subject to change; made this up as I was writing): At the start of Volume 1, a 14yo girl (Aki) in who had been exceptionally kind, caring, and selfless falls in love with a boy (Kai) who was shy and lonely after his parents had died in a car crash, now living with his selfish grandmother. The two become a couple in the first few chapters(a year), but Kai’s grandmother does everything to separate them. Aki and Kai stumble upon a staff(the thing Miku holds in the video). A glowing, fairy-like creature appears out of it, telling Aki that if she held the staff upwards, it would give her and any one person she chooses to restart their lives, but only if they had been killed, meaning Aki would have to kill Kai and herself to do it. In addition, Kai would have no memories, while Aki would remember everything she’d ever done in any life until she raised the staff again. While Aki struggled to do it, they both agreed to this deal and followed it. The next few chapters talk about her second life. Having to now have HSAM permanently in order to go through with this, she had to redo the majority of her life again. It changed her core personality. She manages to find a way to stop her parents from crashing. And even though she knew that it would happen, seeing Kai have no memory of her made her instantly regret her decision to restart. Her personality had been what won Kai over, and with it gone, Kai eventually refuses her. Remembering how the staff worked, she killed them both again, The next few chapters talk about her starting to go insane from her decision. This time, Kai refuses her again, and she loses any resistance in killing them both. The next few chapters talk about her going through this cycle over and over, with her looking for a new way to win him over every time, and death becoming completely meaningless to her. The death-s*icide count goes astronomical, passing 200 million. The last few chapters in the volume(that was meant to be the introduction) talk about the count reaching 207,944,155. She’s gone narcissistic, insane, delusional(literally by definition; she believes she will win him over when all signs point to never), and has secretly become okay with just always being in this cycle and never winning him over. With her being 5 in this life(actually over a billion years old now), the fairy from the staff(sitting where it first was) emerges out, rushing to Aki. Aki doesn’t even recognize the fairy(uh let’s give her a name how about Rasurizo) or care that it’s a fairy(which most think don’t exist). Rasurizo kidnaps Aki, ties her up in a chair with tape on her mouth, and uses her magic to rewire Aki’s brain and personality to her original self. Aki’s hyperventilating out of panic becomes heavy, slow breathing. Rasurizo removes the tape from her mouth, with a very clear “What have I done?” from Aki. Rasurizo explains WHY Aki hasn’t even won Kai over — let alone find a way for them to be together, in a literal billion years. Rasurizo explains that this was her fault, and almost anyone would have gone down the same path in such conditions. She explains that she didn’t create the staff and had no real concept of death except being told that it was something humans avoided at all costs. Watching Aki go through with something that was said to be that bad so consistently, she looked at others’ death, and realized what Aki was doing, and that was why she chose to come out of the staff and do something about this. Rasurizo removes most of Aki’s memories of her insane, billion-year craze, and lets her start anew. She also stops her reliving her life from altering her personality, until finally reaching Aki’s 14th birthday, ending the volume. The other volumes go through her attempt to truly win him over and spread the one life she needed with him. So, what do you think(these questions aren’t rhetorical I am actually asking out of curiosity)? I’m liking the idea so far, at least! Hope you guys are looking forward to it!
