The fast-paced meeting at Nassius has come to a close, with actual results. Fried II, obviously holding the most authority, has come out victorious. Through a narrow vote, the decision was made to turn the Kingdom of Tresca into the Neutral Republic of Tresca - a direct democracy that, as the name suggests, will not be able to be swayed one way or the other in regards to the conflict between Friland and Ulstranca. This outcome marks a huge step for Friland and their allies. The Neutral Republic represents another step towards full, unified democracy in Frieskonika. The decision also makes him more popular with the farmers and working populace, boosting his authority and legitimacy. Of course, it also comes with the added benefit of keeping Tresca away from Ulstranca's bloc, but that's an added bonus. But that's not what Macols IV thinks. The King of Ulstranca believes the real driving force behind the Neutral Republic's foundation is to sever a potential Ulstrancan ally and undermine his power - he sees the Nassius decision as not a peaceful step towards popular representation, but rather a quiet act of war upon Friland's enemies. Simply put, it's a justification for Macols IV to reap chaos. So he will. He can't declare war or break away from the Crown Confederation, sure... but he can slowly chip away at the High King's power. Bit. By bit. Until it all comes crumbling down beneath him.
