[-] Concerning the Rise of "Mapping Edits" [-] As the sole successor of the Scratch Mapperdonia, I feel that it is critical for the Free Mapping Community as a whole to define what falls under the general Mapperdonia. In the past few weeks, the FMC has seen a rise in a new style of "mapping", most commonly referred to as "Mapping Edits". Mapping Edits are mostly seen on places such as Youtube, but have been growing on Scratch in recent days. With this rise, many people have expressed their concern of this new style, considering that Mapping Edits are essentially the "brainrot" of the mapping community. Examples of this include: - Excessive use of phonk audio - No actual mapping being done, the map bases aren't made by the creator of said project. - Map bases are in vector and aren't very accurate, the sole purpose of the maps are to be colored differently. They don't show historical or geographical accuracy. - Excessive use of Geometry Dash faces - Excessive use of Meme faces typically found in brainrot. - "POV" edits - "Which is has the most aura" The examples listed above are all linked with brainrot and have no clear connection to mapping. I would argue that Mapping Edits don't fall under the Mapperdiona and are therefore ineligible to be posted in the Free Mapping Community. The maps in Mapping Edits are almost never created by the creator of the project, and more than 50% of these projects are focused around cartoon faces, music/beat drops, and colorful words. None of the project actually focus on the map itself, and almost always has less than 3 frames of maps. As always, I would love feedback from the community before taking action.
