A specific founding cannot be named for many records conflict with one another, though many think it was anywhere from the 2nd to 6th founding. > THE GREAT REDUCTION Sometime around M38, the Vanquishers pursed a Death Guard warband into a sector wide campaign known as the Reducer Wars. The Vanquishers eventually annihilated the warband, but lost more than half of their strength. The victory became the Vanquisher's greatest shame. > FLAWS Due to trauma from the Reducer Wars the Vanquishers are overly cautious, leaving many opportunities to waste all because they refuse to take unnecessary risks. If a confirmed traitor legion is discovered the Vanquishers many abandon current objectives to pursue it just for the chance to take vengance on heretic legions. The Vanquishers nearly never request reinforcements or help even if many deem it absolutely necessary, the Vanquishers try to be as independent as possible. > TRADITIONS / RITUALS Helmets remain on in the presence of outsiders unless ordered otherwise. The names of fallen are to never be spoken of again unless during the annual vigil which is held to honour and mourn those lost in battle. For every 100 brothers lost another sword is placed on the banner, and for every 100 heretics slaughtered a skull is placed on the banner. Every new brother receives a combat knife forged from steel from their home world, Outeaux III.
