Click the "Change Character" button to select or change your character. Use the arrow keys to make the cat walk around the screen. After walking around, you can press the space bar to see the new sitting animation. To know why you must walk around a bit first, see the bug section in Notes and Credits.
NOTE: I have new sprites now. Credit for the use of these sprites is no longer required. However, you still cannot claim them as your own work. So finally, here are the sprites for the four playable characters that will be available for the final project: Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Dovewing, and Ivypool. Chances are, these may not be the final sprites, and they may appear more diverse later. -------------------------------------------------- (Update 6/13/15: It is now settled that the game will be taking place during Omen of the Stars.) Now in the last project, I said I would list the advantages and disadvantages of having this game take place either during or after Omen of the Stars, so here it is: DURING OMEN OF THE STARS Advantages: -It will be clear where the story is going, and I wouldn't be making something up while I go (but even if this is what we go with in the end, the game will definitely be an abridged version of Omen of the Stars). -For those who have read Omen of the Stars, playing through the series would be pretty fun. Disadvantages: -The game would be quite linear, which isn't always a good thing. -Those who haven't read Omen of the Stars would have to be wary of this game, because it would spoil the entire series. AFTER OMEN OF THE STARS Advantages: -Though it would obviously have some spoilers, it wouldn't spoil all of Omen of the Stars. -It would be less likely to be linear, and I could make it more of a sandbox game. Disadvantages: -Depending on how much time this takes place after Omen of the Stars, I may have to make up fan characters (such as the kits of Lionblaze and Cinderheart, since it's confirmed that they have some), and fan characters mixed in with canon characters would feel out of place. -Without a plot, the game would be less compelling. If there was to be a plot, I'd have to take the time to make one up. Keep in mind that no matter which one of these options I go with in the end, the final project isn't going to be something that will be completed within a month or two. One of the next steps is the create and animate the sprites for all of the non-playable characters, which alone would probably take about a month. Pixel art is a tedious process. -------------------------------------------------- BUGS: -Sitting animation does not always work properly. That's mostly because it currently has a somewhat unreliable script working it. Once I figure out a better way to do the sitting animation, this bug will be fixed. -As of right now, nothing forces you to stand up after sitting before you walk around. Going straight from sitting to walking with nothing in between looks pretty choppy. I'll fix this when possible. -You cannot sit without walking around a bit first, courtesy of the unreliable script. -The click sound effect does not work properly if you're listening through headphones (at least it does this for me). I don't know if there's anything I can do about this.
