INFO ABOUT EACH SONG BELOW i heavily recommend listening with headphones for all of these songs, songs are in order by length, i'd heavily appreciate it if you left feedback :) Dump 4 is out after 2 months! This dump is really different from the rest of them. One day, I was very bored, and I was scrolling through Album of The Year, and I saw Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works 85-92" album at the top of the greatest albums of all time list (well, it was placed #174, but that's still extremely good) and my exact train of thought went "huh, well, i've heard of this guy before, but i thought it was like Panic! at the Disco where their songs are actually terrible but they have an extremely dedicated fanbase! but this guy actually makes good music... why don't I listen?" So I went to Spotify, searched it up, and hit play. Don't follow this advice if you don't want your mind blown... but I want you to search up "Selected Ambient Works 85-92" on Spotify or Soundcloud or wherever and listen to the first track, and ONLY the first track. Come back after you're done. Assuming you did what I told you, I think you can understand how I was extremely inspired by this song and how that bled into this dump. I didn't try to copy Aphex Twin, the music still sounds like mine, but you can hear the influence. However, that's not the only influence on the dump. My music became slightly more rap inspired (as it always was), because not only did I start listening to more rap, but because I heard Aphex Twin use an 808 on his song "Ageispolis" and i was like "what? you can do that? ok," so multiple songs in the dump use 808s. Ok, that's enough talking for today... INFO ABOUT SONGS: Hx: It's prounounced "hex!" Even though the constraints of Scratch don't let you do this, it's meant to loop endlessly. This is the shortest song I've ever uploaded, I'm pretty sure. It's barely a minute long. Placeholder Title: This song was originally going to be called "Islamic Theocracies" (which was also the working title for Angel of Grief) but that name was stupid and I didn't know what to call it so I literally just decided to name it Placeholder Title. People in 20 years are gonna see that title and call me a genius for the satire on capitalism or something. Green Chalk: It just sounds like a song from dump 3. The reason why this song is called Green Chalk is because it was supposed to be the partner to a song called White Chalk but I never got around to finishing it, cause it's boring. This song is actually one of the songs with the most Aphex Twin influence because of it's title. It's a reference to his song "Green Calx," which is the first song I ever heard from him. Koi Fish Swimming: Very beautiful song. It's my slowest song ever, overtaking Arrival. It's supposed to loop, but it can't. It's slightly inspired by classical music. This actually samples something that I am like 95% sure I am not allowed to use. If this is like, your favorite song ever, and you want me to post it on streaming, sorry. Arrival: This is the only song in the dump not inspired by Aphex Twin in some way, shape, or form. That's because it was made before I ever even listened to him. Anyways, it's a trance (i think) song, which is a rare genre for me to make. This is also the slowest song I've ever made, however it got overtaken by a song in this same dump. However, it's also my fastest song ever. You might be like "what?" so for the uninitiated, this song is at 84 BPM in "cut time" or 2/2 which basically means it acts as a march. One, two, one, two. Right? Makes sense? However, I add a kick on every half of a beat, which makes it sound like it's in 4/4, which is one, two, three, four. 4/4 sounds a lot more regular to our ears, which is why I did that. However, doing that makes the song sound like it just doubled it's BPM to 168, which would be my fastest song ever. Get it? You don't? Oh well. Angel of Grief: This song is in the Major scale, which is very unusual for my music. Essentially, the Major scale is the "happy" button for music, and the Minor scale, which 99% of all EDM is made in, is the "sad" button. I put happy and sad in quotation marks because, well, this song isn't very happy is it? Placeholder Title is also in Major. also the breakdown is tuff ? Angel of Grief (Flipped): The song is very fast and the breakdown slows it down instead of it being the other way around.
