(move your mouse around, click the process button to see the process) uhhh first time attempting grayscale before coloring (if you can't tell I had NO idea what I was doing ToT) I also havent made a parallax in a hot minute omg so it’s only 3 layers not really complex. I threw the idea in last minute cuz I thought it would look cool :p This character design was super cool though and I was itching to make a dtae for some reason lol Process steps: 1. Greyscale bg- getting used to using greyscale, I need to work on my scenery skills I know ToT 2. Rendered bust- Done with the bust, don’t mind the back I know it’s really high up in this one I was just getting a sense of where everything was. Decided to try lineless since I haven’t done that in a while. Also lined the shape of the character in a white glow because there wasn’t much contrast in the background. 3. Rendered Body/wings- Fixed a bit of the anatomy, did the wings (I can’t draw wings for the life of me omg it was very much “trust the process” with this one) 4. Color/detailing/other missing features- jumpscare lmao I forgot I was documenting the process since I dragged through the coloring in two days (kept procrastinating) I used blending modes as shown in a really helpful tutorial by @Mystique-- that I’ll link in the N+C which was super helpful for coloring. I did end up using the ‘color’ blending mode as opposed to the one recommended in the tutorial since it was more what I was going for. Also added the eyes (super indecisive with my style still lol) and wings on the other side as well as petals blowing off the flowers so that the parallax would be more visually appealing and add another layer. 5. Finished!- I touched up some things like lighting. I had to stretch the layers for the parallax so that they wouldn’t cutoff awkwardly, so it may look different in this picture than in the actual parallax. Yaps: The 16 layer limit on Kleki was KILLING me for this piece my goodness it was tough deciding what I could merge and what had to stay because when merging layers, settings like blending modes and opacity also change and it makes it hard to fix anything you’d want to later on. All in all this was really fun and a good challenge for me. It really helped me see what i could improve on and I’ll definitely try more greyscale pieces in the future to give me a better understanding of values. Definitely have a lot of room to grow but yeah. That’s all, hope you like it :DD
