(I rewrote this so it’s more up to date, and reflects how I feel a bit better. I was originally supposed to resign on August 7th of 2026, but extra help seemed very much needed on DBD so I decided to help out a bit more before officially resigning for good.) Tl;dr: retiring due to old age and the studio getting very stressful to manage, going on a long retirement holiday to Curatorville and eventually moving away from DBDland in general. ❤️ Hi!! As you can see, I’m no longer a manager of DBD. It was fairly sudden — despite most people knowing that I’d resign sometime soon, I didn’t give a precise date until yesterday (October 4th) — so I’m going to explain why. There are multiple reasons, I guess ✌️ I think one of the main reasons is just because I’m outgrowing DBD. I turn 17 soon, so I think it’s about time I focus on stepping down and moving away from DBD as a whole. School is getting more serious now, so I should focus on studying to make sure I do well on my leaving cert. Along with that, I’m getting a bit old for DBD anyway; the age range is like 13-16, and it’s kind of an unwritten rule that you should leave DBD by 18 :eyes: DBD has also been irritating me lately, and being a manager who has to deal with everything that’s been happening is really difficult and frustrating. I’m on the big scratch.mit.edu so I can’t express my feelings to their full extent here, but topics that should not be mentioned on DBD let alone Scratch are being mentioned more lately and it’s so stupid. It’s more the 1B users who’ve been doing this to be fair, but there’s been a rise in casual users engaging. Again, I’d mention what these topics are and build on what I’m saying if this were offsite, but this is scratch.mit.edu for 8+ so I’ll follow the #community guidelines and be vague. Some of the topics that have been mentioned more can really negatively affect others on the studio, or it can normalise certain harmful things especially to the younger users of the studio. DBD isn’t just full of teens, I’ve seen people around the ages of 9-11 on there too. Is this not common sense actually There’s also just been a problem with ignorance when occasionally having conversations on more serious topics like racism, ableism, etc, and it annoys me to no end. We’ve always had this problem though tbh and it’s gotten a bit better, however it’s still irritating to see after all this time. Because of those things, being a manager has been significantly less enjoyable lately and it’s been fairly stressful. It definitely gave me a push towards resigning. However, my experience as a DBD manager has definitely been mostly positive, and I think I’ll always view it in a positive light!! My hosts shifts have been really fun and working with the other managers was great, they’re all really cool and I appreciate getting the chance to manage DBD at all. So many people on DBD are so cool and I appreciate them a lot, the signature project thing is so sweet and I really enjoyed reading the short messages in the descriptions of them ❤️❤️ it makes me happy that you guys enjoyed my time as a manager, and that I could make a positive difference to DBD. In all honesty, I am going to be completely leaving DBD fairly soon — my resignation is just a step towards that. This won’t be immediate, and I’ll still linger until I can find something to do in replacement of DBD offsite, but I will start to become more inactive. I’ll still be active on Scratch for a bit to commit to SWC and the SMP, so always feel free to say hi if you want to!! :Tongue-out-cat emoji: I won’t properly say my goodbyes or anything yet as it’s not like I’m leaving Scratch, but thank you to all of my friends or other goated people I’ve met on DBD who’ve made it very enjoyable. ☃️☃️ DBD has unironically had a hugely positive impact on me and I appreciate you guys a lot okay, it’s where I’ve made many new friends and gotten more educated. I was very ignorant before it was actually scary…………. who knew that scratch.mit.edu would be the reason I became a less ignorant person I think that’s all I have to say, slán go fóill!
