"Hey Pat, what're you doing?" Paul called, leaning on a wall outside the testing room. Patryk sighed, lowering his head for a second before looking back up and turning around, walking outside the room. "Why does it matter what I'm doing? I told the boss what I was doing, so it shouldn't concern you." He said, crossing his arms. Paul smirked slightly. "Well of course it should concern me. I'm the second in command." Patryk narrowed his eyes. He hated when Paul smiled like that. For someone usually so gruff and numb feeling to everyone else, he's been in quite the good mood lately. It felt weird to think it, but maybe Tord has a good reason not to trust this guy, though it's true that he was the one who appeared so fast when they both saw the explosion in the sky two years ago. Patryk sighed, his brow furrowing. A beat. "So. What's the boss even doing?" Patryk asked, tilting his head slightly, giving Paul space. Paul simply blinked, staring at Patryk. "Last time I was near him, I had to remind him to head to the security room." "Why, exactly? There's nothing important there, and we don't have to watch the cameras really. Soldiers are busy." Patryk snapped quickly, glaring at Paul. The other soldier didn't flinch, just smiled wider, putting his hands behind his back. "Just checking something." "Checking what?" "..." Paul shook his head, turning and walking off. Patryk narrowed his eyes, still glaring at Paul, before forcing himself to relax. It'll be fine. Paul wasn't even doing anything wrong. Other than acting suspicious. But Patryk couldn't do anything about that without more evidence for whatever this could be. He could help if he had something more. But that would mean Tord would have to know what he's talking about instead of forgetting everything after just a few seconds. That was concerning, actually.. Patryk instantly stood more straight, walking down the hallway, managing to follow Paul in just a few strides. "Pat, how about you worry about your own work, hmm?" Paul hummed, not even turning his head. An order masked by a suggestion. "Where are you going, Paul." "Security." "If you told Red Leader to go there, then that's something he has to do himself, yes? You shouldn't be following him around just because he-" "Shut it. Get back to work." Patryk stopped mid step, his mouth half open, before he shut it, turning down a hallway, while Paul continued to walk slowly and calmly. "TORD." Patryk snapped, slamming the security room door open, before taking a breath, sighing slowly. Tord was staring at the cameras, and had flinched when Patryk came in, turning his head. "Yeah-?" "...Okay. Was Paul in here?" "I...don't know. Maybe?" Patryk inhaled through gritted teeth, exhaling through his nose. "Okay." He muttered, before putting his hands behind his back. "Do you even have anything to do here?" "No." Tord answered quickly. Patryk narrowed his eyes slightly. "Alright...then why'd you come in here?" Patryk asked, concern in his voice as he grabbed another chair, sitting down. Tord shrugged. "Because Paul told me to? I dunno." Patryk blinked. "But...you worry about things when you tell yourself to. Usually, Paul tells you to do something, you do it after like...three days. What changed?" He asked, staring at Tord. A few seconds passed, about half a minute before Tord shrugged. He doesn't know. Of course he doesn't know. He doesn't know anything. Patryk's not calling Tord dumb- he wouldn't ever. Just how does he forget everything? Did those burns reach his brain? No. They weren't THAT bad. Patryk sighed, running his hand through his hair. Tord watched him quietly. "Are you staying?" The question made Patryk pause, glancing over at his leader. "Do you want me to?" "I guess?" Patryk adjusted himself in the seat, getting comfortable, placing his boots up on the table in front of them, leaning backwards. He wasn't going to just leave Tord alone if Tord wanted him to stay. That's disobedience. Besides, Patryk had a few things to figure out. Paul entered the room after a few seconds, noticing Patryk, his smile instantly vanishing as he walked in, walking behind Tord. Tord noticed, instantly going stiff. Patryk narrowed his eyes, glaring over at Paul, but staying quiet. It got quiet fast. Nobody breathed too loud. Patryk kept his eyes on Paul, who just kept his hands behind his back. He stayed there for about thirty minutes before turning around. "Tord." He hummed as he walked off. Tord stood up quickly. "Right. Patryk...uh..do something. Go on a patrol, talk to Yuu, or something." Patryk sat there, before standing up. "Yes sir." He muttered, turning and walking off. He noticed Paul had grinned at him innocently as Patryk passed, keeping his hands behind his back. What's with that smile? Patryk needed to figure it out. Tord was scared of Paul. For a reason Patryk didn't know, and he didn't remember. It had to be something bad. .... Sickening, maybe.
