Today I handwalked Casper around the arena by his halter. He started off pretty well, but being the young stallion he is, it didn't last long. He got a little distracted by something outside the arena and tried to stop and stare, refusing to move for a few moments. After a bit of encouragement, he finally walked on, only to spook at a noise from the chicken coop and throw his head up, tugging against the halter. I kept walking him around and asked him to focus on me, doing a few changes of direction and stopping whenever he got too pushy. Casper tested my patience a few times by trying to walk ahead of me, but eventually settled down and listened a little better. We finished with a few calm laps around the arena before calling it a day. Definitely not the easiest handwalk, but that's Casper for you!
