Did you know that most capital sites have GAU-8 turret platforms? Alongside passive defenses like mines, tall walls, and camera networks, high-security Lu-Tech facilities usually have multiple main active external defenses. Autonomous SAM turrets are used for engaging aerial threats at long to medium range, while C-RAM platforms are installed to deal with short-range aerial engagements. For long-range ground engagements, laser-guided surface-to-surface (SSM) missile systems are deployed, however when things get too close for missiles, or the threat in question has effective missile countermeasures, capital sites utilize a weapon system known as the D-8 Heavy Armor Penetration System for medium to short-range engagements. A heavy turret platform that uses the GAU-8/A Avenger autocannon as its main armament. The weapon has a magazine the size of a small building that can store up to 6,000 30mm rounds, and when the weapon fires it kicks up so much dust and is so loud there has to be an alarm issued 30 seconds before the platform fires, giving time for topside personnel to brace and cover their ears, as the platform produces 160 dB of sound while firing.
The weapons division basically saw the A-10 Thunderbolt and said, "That's a cool gun, but what if we bolted it to a concrete platform, made it blow your eardrums out, and called it a turret system?"
