Flock: He/Him, short story: Flock was a small, happy dog who lived in a little valley surrounded by tall, fluffy clouds. The valley was home to a special species of dogs. Every dog in Flock knew was born with beautiful wings. His mother had soft, green wings. His father had large yellow wings. Even his older brothers and sisters had wings that carried them high above the trees. But Flock was different. He had no wings at all. When Flock was born, his family was surprised. They had expected him to have wings just like everyone else. But Flock simply wagged his little tail and smiled. “I may not have wings,” he said, “but that doesn’t mean I can’t fly!” His family loved his positive attitude, but Flock knew that flying without wings wouldn’t be easy. Every morning, he watched the other dogs soar through the sky. Flock would sit on a hill and stare upward as his family glided between the clouds. “I’ll find a way,” he said. So Flock began building. First, he made a pair of wooden wings. He strapped them to his sides and ran as fast as he could. “Three… two… one!” Flock jumped. THUMP! He landed in a bush. Leaves flew everywhere. Flock popped his head out and laughed. "Well, that didn’t work.” Next, he built a giant kite. He tied himself to it and waited for a strong breeze. The wind picked up. Flock’s ears flapped. His paws lifted off the ground. "I’M FLYING!” For a few wonderful seconds, Flock floated through the air. Then the kite spun around. Flock landed softly in a pile of grass. He jumped up, covered in leaves, with the biggest smile on his face. “I almost did it!” Every failed invention made Flock more determined Dizzy: She/Her Story: N/A Linden: He/Him Story: N/A
