Boom Box — Abilities Album Shift Boom Box (a.k.a. The CD Rocker) can insert or absorb a CD to change modes. Each (Clean) album genre affects their powers and mood. Examples: - Rock-Amen Break Mode: stronger armor, heavier tail strikes, powerful sound bursts. - Electronic Synth Mode: faster movement, holographic equalizers, precise laser patterns. - Classical Mode: calming sound fields that reduce panic and help allies focus. - Glitchcore/Breakcore Mode: intimidating distortion roar and reinforced claws. - Lo-fi Mode: stealthier movement and a soft field that makes enemies sleepy. Sonic Pulse Roar Their speakers and throat create focused sound waves that can shove back enemies, crack weak barriers, or interrupt machinery. The attack can be tuned from a gentle bass thump to a sharp, glass-rattling blast. Laser-Disc Frills The glowing discs along their head, back, and claws can emit short-range cutting-light arcs. Boom Box usually uses them carefully—to cut ropes, disable weapons, or slice through obstacles rather than hurt someone. Trackline Tail Display The waveform screen on their tail scans nearby vibrations. It can detect footsteps, hidden movement, distant voices, structural cracks, or approaching danger. Equalizer Shield Boom Box projects floating equalizer bars that form a temporary sound-based barrier. The shield absorbs impacts by converting them into visible waves and bass beats. Playlist Projection They can cast colorful holograms: music visualizers, fake pathways, decoy dragons, or a light show to distract opponents. This is especially useful for escapes and entertaining friends. Stereo Sync Boom Box can connect to nearby speakers, radios, headphones, or sound systems. In a team, they can coordinate signals through music: a certain beat for “move,” another for “danger,” another for “all clear.” Disc Storage Core Their transparent stomach compartment safely stores CDs, recordings, and audio memories. Some discs may contain special tracks: messages from friends, archived maps, or songs that trigger a specific ability. Weaknesses Scratched or Corrupted Discs A damaged CD can make a mode unstable. Rock Mode might stutter between strength and weakness; holograms may glitch; a calming song could loop one phrase over and over. Overheating Long laser use, maximum-volume sonic attacks, or too many connected devices can overheat Boom Box’s internal systems. Their colors may flicker, their music may slow down, and they need time to cool off. Silence Zones In areas that absorb or cancel sound, Boom Box loses access to many sonic abilities. They can still fight physically, use their claws, and rely on their tail scanner—but they are less powerful. Battery Drain High-energy tracks consume more power. If their battery gets low, their displays dim, speakers weaken, and they may be forced into a basic “low-power” mode. Emotionally Linked Music Certain songs or recordings can bring up strong memories. An enemy who learns this could try to distract Boom Box with a meaningful track—but Boom Box can also turn that emotion into determination. Water and Dust Risks Boom Box is built tough, but water inside the disc slot or heavy dust in the speakers can cause static, skipping, or temporary system failure. A sealed “storm casing” upgrade could reduce this weakness. Too Many Inputs When multiple people demand different songs, commands, or modes at once, Boom Box can get overwhelmed. Their screens fill with error messages, and they need a moment to choose their own track. No CD, No Specialty Mode Without a disc or stored digital track, Boom Box has only their default abilities: basic claws, tail strikes, limited speakers, and simple scanning. Their greatest power comes from choosing the right music for the moment.
