If someone I'm talking to tells me, "I don't know what LGBTQIA+ means," with general curiosity and respect, I will shake hands and tell them immediately.
If someone says "I don't know what LGBTQIA+ means," with hate and boredom, I will stand up and say to their face, "It means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual. And it stands for the rights of human beings." And immediately walk away at go to my queer friends.
