The Advanced Surface to Orbit Technology Demonstrator, or the ASOTD is a LEO capable testing platform being produced and used by JRSEP. Unlike it's smaller cousin, the ASOTD is expected to be lost, the booster and majority of the second stage are expected to be dropped into the ocean, while the re-entry capsule full of hard data from the flight is required to be recovered for accurate comparison with digital data. The ASOTD has capacity for a heavier and larger payload along with a higher range, so far 5 models have been produced with another 8 expected this month.
