Chapter 1: Link Zelda's PoV: "Zelda! Can I talk to you?" I heard Mr. Elzo's voice ring. I walked into his classroom. "Let me guess," I sighed. "My math grade sucks." Mr. Elzo smiled. "It's getting better. But you're still behind your classmates. Is something distracting you?" "N-No," I answered. "I think I just don't understand it." He smiled again. "Tell you what. Stay after class on Monday, and I'll try to help you. Maybe I can get you some extra credit." I grimaced, thinking of Link. We always met up at the treehouse in his backyard. I was already late today, but who knew if I'd even be able to see him Monday. "O-Okay." I said, hesitantly. "Good." He said. "Have a good weekend." "Thanks!" I said, racing out the door. Me and Link lived close to the school, so I usually ran home. I hopped the fence into his backyard and climbed the ladder into the treehouse. "Sorry I'm late." I said. "Mr. Elzo held me back in class. You know how my math grade is." "I understand." Link said. "Anyway, look! I found these on the way from school today" He pulled out a handful of blue Stargazer Tulips, a flower we had nicknamed, "Silent Princess" based on the legends we had heard about Hyrule. "How beautiful! Is it Silent Princess season already?" "AND, I made this!" He showed me a wood carving of a Korok, the forest children from the legends. "I made it as a decoration. You know, for the treehouse. But I thought you might like it." He said, smiling. "I love it. thank you." I said. We stayed in the treehouse for a while, making up stories about Koroks. "Zelda! dinner!" I heard my mom yell. "Coming mom!" I yelled. "See ya, Link." I said, and hopped out of the treehouse. I was silent at dinner. "Is something wrong, honey?" My mom asked. "N-nothing." I said. "I mean, Mr. Elzo held me back in class. But that's it." My dad smiled. "Or is it something about Link?" he asked, sharing a look with mom. "Why do you guys always ask that?" I ask. "I think you know why, Zelda" Mom said, sharing another look with Dad. "Mom!" I shouted. "I'm only ten!" Mom chuckled. I never understood what they were talking about entirely. Me and Link were best friends, but my parents would treat it like it was something more. Some things I felt like I'd never understand. I was done talking to my parents, that is, until they brought out the fruitcake. "You ARE letting me have more than 1, right?" I asked. "Okay, fine." Dad laughed, "But just this time." As I was enjoying my fruitcake, I thought about what Mom and Dad said. Were they right? No! They couldn't be! I'm still just a kid! Maybe Link can talk some sense into them...
