=========================================== When you're ready to see this, it will come to you. Some of us will click it in a millisecond. For others, maybe it'll flicker into your view one afternoon, and you'll barely spare a second thought. Seven months later, it'll be all over the place, you'll have forgotten you saw it the first time. You'd changed since then, and now you click. No, I am not the guy who made the yt vid if you've seen it, but I did take some inspiration off of it. Now, into it. You woke up yesterday morning and realized you didn't do the one thing you were intending to do the day before. Shrugging, you told yourself, "Whatever. I'll do it later. Maybe after dinner or something." Today, you woke up and already knew you never got around to that thing last night. You convince yourself to do a little work on it, then lose motivation, shrug once more, and say again, "I'll do it later." "Later." "Tomorrow." "Next week." Then what? Next month? Next year? Next centur- oh, wait, you probably won't be around for that! And I mean exactly 100 years from now, disregarding whether it's the 2000s or the 2100s. Even if you are alive for that, that is not the point. The point is that the more you lie to yourself and say that you'll do it soon, the less likely you are to actually do it. And as long as you wait for the perfect moment to do those things or be that person is as long of your life that you waste. You really do only get one life. Stop acting like you get two. The most wonderful people are almost always the quickest to go, but that doesn't make kindness a curse. Look at this! A girl, @Imprison , whom none of us know much of anything about passed due to cancer, and she was one of our kindest, one of our best artists, and one of the very bravest for taking the chance she had to live, wherever it took her. And we all remember her because of that. Let me repeat. There are too few people who care in the world, and the only reason you may think it's a curse is because every unkind person does everything they can to smush the kindness out of this universe. Responsibility is not something for your peers to laugh at you for - less procrastination shows you're more honest with yourself, you're in control of what you do and when and you actually do it, and that you have considerably less of a habit of saying things like "Just one more time.." or "Tomorrow. I'll do it tomorrow." These people know and understand the reality of having only one life, and they use it to the fullest. So how can you do the same? First, stop lying to yourself. Understand whether or not you can and will actually get the thing done. Figure out when you can do it, and when that time arrives, remove any distracting procrastination ideas (like doomscrolling), then do it! Next, find small ways to practice self-restraint. Nobody needs ten snacks to survive 3am in the morning. So take 8 or 9 tonight, 7 or 8 tomorrow, and so on down the line until you have maybe 2 or 3. Don't break the habit. Do not break the habit. Breaking the new habit allows you to fall back into the old ones, and each time it can be harder to get back up. Here's an example, from my own life. I love Mahjong 247. However, I have this rather lazy habit of just clicking a tile I know won't work so it can show me which one's I'm allowed to click. Each time I play, I've been trying to migitate this, seeing how far I get before I fall back into the click-and-see habit. Over time, this habit should vanish altogether, and I should be a lot more proficient at Mahjong. What you need to do is somewhat like that. Come up with a plan, and have patience. Patience is key, because nothing that is high quality comes as fast as the speedpaints suggest. Finally, the most important thing of all: Actually doing everything your plan entails. Don't go through with the plan, and it falls apart. It's as simple as that. You've got one life, my friends. Use it right. ===========================================
=========================================== (If you saw my comment on one of @Imprison 's projects I did copy and edit that onto here, but I wanted to provide an example.) I am not expecting a lot of people to actually see this, this is kind of on a whim. I guess we'll find out. ===========================================
