Chapter 3: Frustration (pt. 2) The day was already bad enough by the time the end of the day rolled around. Link had never shown up at lunch or recess, which he usually claimed every kid needed to get exercised. Now, I had to get tutored by Mr. Elzo. Except, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I actually learned a few things, and Mr. Elzo came through and gave me extra credit. I raced home to see if Link was at the treehouse. He was. I climbed up the ladder quickly. "Hey." I said. "Sorry I'm late, again. Mr. Elzo was tutoring me after class. Why were you not at lunch?" Link sighed. "My parents pulled me out of school for a 'doctor's appointment' , but it felt like a set-up. On the whole way there they kept talking to me about, well,-" "I get it." I finished. "Parents. They try to make everything more complicated than it seems." Link smiled. "So THAT'S what's been bothering you! Why?" I thought about this. My parents were right. I think I did like Link. What were these new emotions? "Well, actually-" I started, but then stopped. My parents were watching the whole thing. Crap! I should've known this would happen! "You know what? Never mind." I said. "Okay." He said, giving me the same look he did earlier except, not at all frustrated. "See you tomorrow, Link." I said, running home.
