We never have to finish.” The Prophet slowly shook his head. “It has already happened.” “What do you mean?” He pointed toward the cards. “The moment you drew them, your future stopped being a possibility.” A cold wind swept through the Forest. Every candle went out. Then you heard something behind you. A slow, wet breathing. you turn. Nothing. When you looked back at the table, Sensu was gone. In his place lay one final tarot card that hadn't been there before. you pick it up. The picture showed the forest. It showed you standing exactly where you are. And behind you stood a tall, black figure with no face, one hand resting gently on your shoulder. You slowly felt a hand touching your shoulder. You freeze. The room filled with the smell of damp earth. Then something leaned close to your ear and whispered: “You were never here to change your fate.” You look down at the card one last time. The picture had changed. Now the figure was gone. And the person in the card was lying dead on the chapel floor. A second later, you felt something cold slide across her throat. The candles suddenly burst back to life. Your body collapsed beside the table. Across the room, Sensu stepped from the shadows. He picked up the three cards and carefully returned them to the deck. Then he sat down, shuffled the cards, and waited for his next visitor. Because the future was never something he predicted. It was something that had already happened.
