i don't need love ------------------------------------------------------------------------ i convinced myself that i “don't need love” why should i waste my time? after all, true love is fake and boys treated me like a crime i don't need love, i tell myself it leaves you with broken pieces love is nothing but suffocation and weakness oh the misery it releases love just hurts and holds you back why should i wear my heart on my sleeve? keep trying so hard when i know it won't work out... and in the end they always leave? i convinced myself that i don't need love and yet i felt so alone like something was missing in my life and this weight i could no longer carry on my own you knew that i was in pain and saw the things i've faced yet you still held out your hand just like that, i was finally free i found peace the size of a strand and overtime, the strand grew bigger 'till it took up my whole sky a love so strong it could never break a love even i couldn't deny now i'm filled with your kindness and i know this love isn't like the past because unlike the relationships i've been in before i'm sure that this time it'll last this love i do not need to chase or beg for it to stay you make it seem like it's easy to love me and your love grows every single day so i let my barriers down and allowed your light to peek through that's when i knew i didn't need this world's love i just needed you
author's note: this poem to me is about how God's love has changed my life, but it can also be interpreted in other ways! <3 1 John 4:8 "But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love."
