Chapter Two- FawnPelt purred gently. EveningStar was creeping in slowly, her eyes were wide and her jaws were parted slightly to drink in the scent of her home for the next couple months. FawnPelt, feeling at home padded over to her kits and her mate, CloverClaw, who was crouched next to the kits. He nudged them each gently then pressed his muzzle againest FawnPelt's and nodded to his leader. " Got to go hunting,", he was sure to say before leaving, " I'll bring you some fresh k*ll soon FawnPelt.". FawnPelt nodded with a sparkle of her eyes and laid next to her kits carefully. EveningStar nervously lowered herself into her new nest. She looked around cautiously. Then she spotted the other nursery resident, DewFace, staring contently at her tiny kits who were mewling faintly. She looked up from her liter and saw EveningStar, and her eyes widened. She mewed nervously before pushing her kits closer to the wall and laying down again so her back was facing the two other cats. FawnPelt after cleaning her kits and letting them play in an absent nest was quick to speak, " One of her kit's once caught green cough.". Alarm flooded over EveningStar. FawnPelt glanced at DewFace and then back at EveningStar, " It was long ago, when she was a loner . She struggled deeply to cure him, and she did, but it was hard and he was sick for more than 2 weeks. He wasn't in this liter, but she's super protective now. She barely accepted she would have to share the nursery with me, even though I was here first and she barely leaves. BadgerStep has to bring her fresh k*ll all the time.". EveningStar studied DewFace. Suddenly, the nervous she cat flung her head around and hissed loudly. " If you lay a claw on my kits,", her voice rumbled threatheningly before she whipped her head back to her kits and mewed soothingly to them. EveningStar stared silently at her paws imagining the kits that she would have. FawnPelt licked her chest nervously before mewing quietly to call her kits back to her. They stumbled helplessly over to their mother, mewling in excitement. Their mother looked down at the three kits proudly, she licked each between the ears and re-adjusted so they could climb in next to her. They mewled loudly, jumped into the nest and tucked themselves againest FawnPelt.
