hiii i'm zephy! i'm an aspiring poet, singer, and VA! enjoy!
creds to mee!!! don't steal my poem ( scroll for poem ) Emptiness is a feral animal. Unleashed to control and poison a world of its fuller parts. Yet the emptiness and I have swapped spots— And I am simply e y m t p They say trauma is hereditary. Your looks are genetic. Your personality is not determined by the people you meet It’s hereditary Was I born empty or were my parents empty from the start; too afraid to show it to the world? The Mekong River consumed many, yet spit them out. It swallowed people they knew and loved, yet threw them out like they were rocks stuck in its throat. America had been no different. No words left to say to one another. Just silence after silence, and soon the houses were empty. filled with the pain that consumed their once-full cups of joy. Years of hard work and sacrifice got people where they are today. Sweat, blood, and tears put into the degrees that my parents committed their lives to. Racism and discrimination that my thaiv, my pog, and yawg’s put up with at work, for me…? I am not one to disappoint. Nor are my report cards A after A after A I learned my ABC’s The differences between 1’s, 2’s, and 3’s But it’s not enough for them. I should be grateful to go to a school where I am constantly surrounded by my culture, my people, my language. But these halls are not what you think. They are filled with the same academic pressure the Hmong generations before me faced Seeking for attention is impossible until you finally graduate and they begin to grasp the worth of your achievements And it’s still not enough for them. They want more. And more. MORE. Reputation is everything here. Achievements and sports bring in sponsors. Money goes down the drain. Building after building after building , Yet they never seem to buy new equipment anymore. The track team brings in wins yet they don’t have a real track. Robotics and E-sports almost shared a room even though we’re the only teams making it to state. These uniforms are worn in and old, the new musical brought in hundreds of new people, yet they still hesitated to fund it. They fear investing into these programs. Into music. Into theatre. Into art. Into anything that’s not giving them immediate attention when it’s fully apart of our high school experience. It’s just dusted off and put away like these students are trophies on their shelves Only to be shown off, We’re not. Silence is consuming. It moves and spreads like cancer to lungs. All it does is leave everyone empty. Has it consumed you?
