(will you guys believe that ive had the idea for this since i posted the last shortlived wonder... cuz i have... mostly... but i didnt know what to write exactly... im sorry that it took so long :'3) ========== About two weeks had passed, just like Richard said would, when Francisca and Susanna woke up to see a brand-new starboard outside the house, with Richard outside, seemingly making final adjustments and polishes to the machine. Susanna quickly made her way out of the house, Francisca following behind, along with being the one to remind Susanna that it was cold outside and that she'd need a coat. When the two went outside into the cold air, Richard looked over to the two, smiling warmly. "Oh, good morning, girls." He put a small rag he held in his pocket, and gestured toward the starboard. "As you can see, I've finished," he said before looking back at Susanna, "so you should be able to go home soon." Susanna squealed happily, clapping her hands. She couldn't wait to see her dad and Kali again. Richard would explain how the starboard worked to the girls, as they paid very close attention. After he finished his explanation, he looked over at Susanna, pulling out a small hand-drawn map from his pocket, handing it to her. Once she opened it, she saw a few planets. "We're here, on Frostak," Richard said as he pointed to a planet near the bottom left corner of the map, which was colored in blue, "and Barren Star is over here." He said as he pointed to another planet, this one colored in gray, near the top right corner. There were two planets in between Frostak and Barren Star. He pointed to the one closest to Frostak, being one colored in red. "This is Halcandra," he explained before pointing to the last planet, which was colored in yellow, saying; "and this is Towara." He looked over at Susanna again. "It'll take about half a week to get to each planet. We'll be sure to prepare enough food for you to get to Halcandra on your own. I've traveled to plenty planets, so I'm sure I've got some of that planet's money stashed somewhere, along with Towara, just in case you need it." Susie nodded, and Francisca spoke up afterwards. "Will she be going all on her own?" Richard nodded. "Yes, unfortunately, me and your mother have to stay to take care of the house, and in case anyone else from the town needs us. And frankly, I don't think the starboard has enough storage for food for more than one person." Francisca's expression faltered a bit. "Won't it be dangerous?" Richard nodded. "Yes, of course it'll be a little bit... but, Susanna will be able to communicate with me if she needs it." He pulled up the glass dome covering the top of the starboard, and pressed a small button that connected to a screen and a speaker. A device in his pocket started buzzing, and he pulled it out, revealing what looked like a walkie-talkie, just with a screen showing the inside of the starboard. "With that, she can talk to me in case she needs anything." Susanna looked back at Richard. "When will I be going?" Richard put the walkie-talkie back in his pocket, and he started to make his way back towards the house, as the girls followed close behind. "As soon as you're ready, of course. You'll need plenty of food and water to be able to get to Halcandra, and we'll also need to make sure there's enough power for you to make it the whole way, or at least to Towara. You'll be able to refill there in case you need it. I should also do a few test drives to make sure nothing goes wrong while in flight." Susanna nodded as the three entered the house again. "How long will that take?" Richard scratched his chin, before shrugging. "I'm not sure. Probably a while, though." Susanna sighed, her expression turning into one of slight disappointment. Francisca noticed this, and took her hand, smiling. "At least you get to hang out with me some more!" Susanna looked up at her friend, smiling back at her, and nodding. "Yeah... that's nice." Francisca took Susie to the living room, taking out a few books, as Richard went over to Francisca's mother. She looked over at him, a soft expression on her face. "Will she be able to go home soon?" Richard nodded. "Yes, in at least another few weeks." Francisca's mother nodded. "I hope her family isn't too worried for much longer." Richard went over to the cupboard, taking out a mug to make tea as he kept speaking. "She'll get there as soon as she can, I assure you. It'll just take some time. For now, we need to get her completely ready for the journey." The two looked over at the girls, who were now sitting in the living room, reading some books Francisca had found. Susanna would come home soon. All that was needed was just more time. ========== (I highkey think that this story might end up being the longest out of the lore stories since i have like 3-5 more parts planned out for this if i end it once susie gets back home :000)
