Don't ask why the thumb is a Therian thing... So, one of the most common reasons people believe it is not okay to love the same gender is because of verses in the bible talking about same sex couples being bad, however these words were written in Greek and different langues, and with proper translation are not referring to same sex couples, but rather unconsensual relationships. At the time these passages were written, there were bad things going on, that I cannot say on here. It's about how we treat people in terms of relationships and such. It goes against exploitation and lust--not LGBTQ. As a Christian I was also always taught to care about ones soul and personality rather than physical body, and that has sort of 'manifested' through my attraction to people of any gender. Also, when God describes a good relationship in his eyes, nowhere does it say it has to be man and woman only--a relationship that pleases God is one of love, joy, peace, and mutual sacrifice. My orientation doesn’t prevent me from bearing good spiritual fruit in a relationship. Also, the entire Bible heavily emphasizes love, and to love one another. Ultimately, being pansexual is just another form of love--not sin. God made me to see the beauty in all people, regardless of gender, and I believe that is a gift from him. I haven’t turned my back on the bible, as everything I believe has come with immense amount of prayer, research, and reading of my bible. Also, God is constantly ‘widening his circle’. Rules once were made that excluded people for their bodies or marital roles, and these rules were later abolished. The early church had to extent their love beyond what they originally expected, and we have to recodnize God’s love isn’t limited by rigid ideas of modern gender or love. And with Adam and Eve, they show us humans are made for companionship and connection, but they don’t show us the only kind of relationship humans are allowed to have. They only showed one. And truthfully, what makes someone Christian isn’t who they are attracted to. Its their faith in Jesus, and how they reflect his love back into the world. I know your not saying this, however if someone were to say I could not be a Christian due to my sexual orientation, that is adding human rules to God’s reign. Also, even then, if being queer were to be a sin, it would make little sense to say that gay people cannot be Christian at all, as everyone is a sinner. And, being homosexual is mentioned maybe three times in the Bible in ways that have been debunked, while other sins are mentioned once more. The fixation that the idea of being queer being a worse offense from the other sins of the bible, or being a sin so grave that anybody queer physically or spiritually cannot worship God, stems from a fear of difference and from human rules and customs. Um, so that is why I identify as both queer and Christian. Hope that helps!
