Oak stiffened on the tree, and EVERYTHING came flooding back. The forest, the deep wilderness, the loud noises of the past, and her family. Oak shook and wobbled, completely losing her balance, and tumbled right off the tree branch."OOF!!" she shouted as she hit the forest floor.Luckily, it wasn't too high—just high enough to instantly break her out of her deep sleep .Oak looked at her hands. "I fell asleep...?" she said. Her hand instinctively reached out and rubbed the bump on her nose. She had been born with it."Maybe it's a link to my past, though I'm glad that was all a dream". She thought. Oak's watch was broken from the impact. "Darn... what time is it? The time it's stopped at is 7:55. It must be around 8:30 now! I'm gonna be late for school!!!" Oak ran home and got ready for school, then she crouched outside, waiting for the bus.The bus brakes squealed as it stopped right in front of Oak. As she stepped up the stairs, she felt a sudden phantom shift. It felt exactly like a large, fluffy tail was brushing against her legs, and two sets of sharp ears—one sleek like a fox, and one thick and fluffy like a forest cat—perked up on her head. She blinked, shaking the feeling away so she could find a seat.Oak sits alone and feels for her ears. One ear IS a fox and the other a cat. She also still feels her tail."I thought I was a wolf..." she whispered.Oak thinks back to when she first awakened: she thought she was a fox, then thought maybe she was a wolf. But thinking back on it now, she never shifted as a wolf. Not ever. Oak searched it up on her phone: Why do I only shift as a fox and not when my theriotype changed to a wolf? And why do I feel a cat ear?The answer said: "The most common reason is a misconception of your theriotypes, and you may be a cat Therian as well."The bus pulled up to her school and Oak stepped out. She was almost through the school door when she heard Brandon, the school bully, say: "Beat it, you furry!"
