~ ☆ ~ " What's in a name? " . . . ~~~ Cozenwish found herself asking this very question. Lackadaisically. It was the edge of night, where no birds sang. The warrior's den was dead silent, yet there was an ever-looming presence of intertwining dreams and fur and teeth. It was a living coalescence of dark spirits. The pale she-cat flicked her fluffy ears, peering once, peering twice, at the cobalt-black sky and back to her "clanmates." She scoffed at the word. Hardly clanmates, moreso threats to her life. The practice of evil was eminent in Urchinclan. Cozen quietly stood up. She slunk past the dozing cats. By the seashore, the waves were relatively calm, but the looks were obviously deceiving. It could swallow her whole. She stayed there for a few moments in the sand. The she-cat supposed that her entire life, she wondered about her name. Now she knew, didn't she? She was a liar. A liar...? Cozen wished she could ask her parents why she was given this curse-like calling, but it was quite futile. Her father---gone before she could even toddle. And her mother's comforting warmth far above her now. Her eyes flitted to the sea again. It was ominously dark, swallowing the stars at the edge of the horizon. Cozenwish remembered when she looked at them in wonder, not in disgust. She thought of her half-sister, Marlinmassacre. Marlin. Her father's prefix. The killer? That name... passed throughout generations as a sign of a surviving lineage. Is that what the purpose of a name is? Where is it now? And then she thought of her brother, Tentaclemayhem. There were old days behind them now. Far behind them. Carried away like driftwood heading towards the vast ocean. Finally, she thought of her fears. She was scared. She didn't want to admit it. It took cats from her. The Dark Forest seemed omnipresent in her life, plaguing her conscience. She knew she was doing the right thing. The "right" thing... Cozen didn't know what was right anymore. Some things were so wrong even the Dark Forest condemned them. Some things were so wrong even the Dark Forest condemned them. Some things were so wrong... ... ~~~ End! Hope you enjoyed Cozen's existential crisis :D morally grey characters r so PEAK >>>>>>>>> Critique the heck out of this if you so wish!
