Exactly twelve years, three months and one day had passed since Skye Lily Ross was born. Everyone in her family had brown eyes paired with blonde hair. But when Skye was born, her mother immediately fainted, waking up with slight whispers of “terrible blue eyes”. Skye had blonde hair, so her mother was slightly pleased. However, when Skye had enough allowance, she went to the hair salon and dyed her hair the brightest, yet prettiest, shade of blue ever. After dying her hair, her mother always scolded Skye, no matter the occasion. Even at school Skye heard people whispering to their friends about how disrespectful she was to her family. The only person who would listen was her slightly depressing goldfish, who was almost dead and had no name. When she would tell him how her day was, he would make some little bubbles. Skye never really cared about being a different star in the family. She only wished that people would like her. Syke never wanted her own mother to love her. She already decided her future. She would run away with all of her worries. She would buy a dog that would have a name. Skye would never look back at her previous life. She would move into her own apartment. Most importantly, Skye would pierce her ears, something her mom scolded people for. The mother who was never a mother to Skye. The mother who was kind to every other Ross family member. Even her sister who could get on anybody’s nerves in less than two seconds. Skye doesn’t even care even more if people love her. It isn’t like anyone ever has. Why would they? It’s not like she loved anyone. Her mom cared too much about looks. Her dad left when Skye was born. Skye’s sister, Lily Anne, despised Skye. Everyone hated her. What even was her purpose in the world? Was it to be hated and left in the dust of a small closet? It was probably to leave her family and become someone who would never have anyone to talk to. Skye was sure of it. Until her mother started to care. One day at a time.
