Shaggy manes (Coprinus comatus) are a species of edible mushrooms. They grow in grass during the fall. They are in the inky cap family, so within 48 hours of emerging they dissolve into an inky substance (hence their name- inky caps) in a process called deliquescence, which s their method of spore dispersal.
I sautéed them in vegan butter with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and a spice blend, and had them on a sandwich with tofu and spinach.
