Foster turned around with a slight blush, right in front of the steps. "Yeah?" Her brown eyes studied Keefe. "I-" he cleared his throat. "Can I ask you something?" Edaline took the hint, smiled at Keefe encouragingly, and all but dragged Grady out of Havenfield's living room. Keefe could hear Grady fussing at her in the kitchen, but he still moved on with his plan. Or tried to, at least. When his eyes caught on Foster's, all words fell from his mouth. She was wearing red, too, which really didn't help Keefe pull himself together. "What did you want to ask me?" Foster asked Keefe, tilting her head. "Can we, uh, go to the Panakes for a minute?" Keefe bit his lip nervously. She always did this to him. Foster smiled. "Yeah," she said, taking the lead. She didn't look back as she walked, which gave Keefe a chance to make sure he still had the box. Thankfully, it was still in his pocket. That saved him an embarassing trip back to the Shores of Solace. He let out a relieved breath, letting his eyes close for a split second before he stopped under the swaying branches of the Panakes. His girlfriend was studying him. She'd turned 18 a few weeks ago. Which gave Keefe the confidence that it was time for him to do this. It was a small black box. It just barely fit in his palm, but the contents were really small. Keefe had always felt like the jewelers made them way too big. Until he'd met Foster. Keefe slowly pulled the box out. Foster watched him curiously. But when he dropped onto one knee... And opened the box... Her hand flew to her mouth. "Sophie... will you marry me?" Foster said nothing for a moment. She just stood there, red-faced, staring at the diamond ring Keefe was offering her. Then she flew into his arms in a strangle-hug, just like the one she'd hit him with when she'd found him in London, whispering "Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" over and over.
