The first ever month of Team of the Month (TOTM) has ended, and with it, comes the time for announcing the top 4 teams of the month! This contest has been originally created by the wonderful @WAAW_ , so be sure to check out their YouTube channel, @Laazy49 ! (Note that this contest can have two teams at max from the same person depending on how many people have submitted teams for that month.) ____________________________________________ - Number 4: Golisopod Hard Trick Room by @KrunkKiddos : https://pokepast.es/e37fa1de6b7278ef Hard Trick Room has always been a popular strategy that usually pairs a Fake Out, redirection or sacrifice Pokemon (e.g. Scarf Final Gambit Staraptor or Annihilape in Gen 9) with a Trick Room setter, and has the goal to tear through the opponent's team with offense. This team is the psyspam version of Hard Trick Room which has Indeedee to set up Psychic terrain and make the move Expanding Force be a powerful spread move and usually the psyspam Pokemon is a slow Pokemon to set up Trick Room, and Golisopod can deal with Pokemon that psypam is weak to. The reason this team isn't higher is because it has a few questionable choices. In psyspam archetypes you rather not have more than one psyspammer, and Toxapex on it is strange, since it can't do good damage under Trick Room and is rather a supportive piece which you don't want other than Indeedee. Torkoal has Body Press which doesn't do as much damage as Earth Power to Incineroar which resists its Fire moves, and Golisopod has Liquidation which is anti synergistic with Torkoal's Sun. Other than that, great team @KrunkKiddos ! - Number 3: Blaziken Hyper Offense by @UltraHatrick : https://pokepast.es/94a54a925932308a : Blaziken is generally in a good spot of the metagame in my opinion, since Basculegion and Garchomp which were a huge threat to it dropped in usage, and Pokemon that were weaker to it became more popular. The team aims to do huge damage with Blaziken Sneasler Basculegion and Froslass, and has Fake Out and Tailwind support. It is overall a solid team, and Blaziken will be very scary if you let it get a few Speed Boosts, and Froslass can help with Rain matchups that Blaziken struggles against, as well as Blaziken helping it in Charizard Y teams. The main thing that is strange to me is Whimsicott, since the team already has a lot of speed control, and overlaps typing with Rillaboom and not offering much that the rest of the team already doesn't have. Still a very solid team, good job ! - Number 2: Toxtricity Balance by : https://pokepast.es/9ab569556eee5068 : Toxtricity has always been seen as this offensive mid speed Pokemon with Punk Rock and Life Orb doing a lot of damage, but this team takes a different take on Toxtricity, making it a supportive piece with moves like Snarl, Tearful Look and Electroweb giving the team speed control and reducing the opponent's damage output, and Froslass taking advantage of that speed control and dealing with the Ground types Toxtricity despises. Arcanine here can help against Charizard Y matchups, and Noivern is a fast Tailwind setter that can deal with Golisopod and Garchomp Z which would otherwise be sort of complicated for the team and come in when Toxtricity is bad in that matchup. Some of the things I'd call out are Noivern not being quite max speed for a Pokemon that wants to set Tailwind ASAP, and Toxtricity being Boomburst which can break Arcanine's Focus Sash (Overdrive or Sludge Bomb are a bit more consistent.) Though a great team, and my personal favorite team of all of the submissions. Great job ! - Number 1: Golisopod Sand by : https://pokepast.es/2b18dba7bb4760fd : First off, congratulations to for winning September's Team of the Month! Very good team, and now let's dive into the team explanation. This team has the combination of Mega Golisopod, alongside Armarouge psyspam and Tyranitar. The members have great synergy, other than Tyranitar's sand breaking Armarouge's Sash. Golisopod can be a genuine threat under Trick Room, and as explained before, it can deal with psyspam's bad matchups, and Armarouge here has Flash Fire, which will make opponents consider before clicking a Fire move into a potential Armarouge switch in. Tyranitar is interesting here, because it's not Mega and instead a Chople Berry 3 attack set which aims to destroy Charizards and Arcanines for Golisopod to finish the team not fearing the Fire types that want to ruin its day. Salamence is a very good Mega in general and can give the team a Tailwind mode to work with, as well as Life Orb Basculegion as another answer to Charizard and cleaning up the rest of the team. Overall, a very great team, and in my opinion the team that deserves to win Team of the Month, September edition!
