Recently, water has come front and center in public attention. Fresh water is becoming more and more scarce as we rapidly increase our demand for it while using up what nature can provide. We are using up water reservoirs all over the world, which is an even bigger problem when you realize NATION-DESTROYING VOLCANOES ARE COOLED BY THEM- "Why can't places like California, next to the ocean, produce enough water?" Apparently it is because of how expensive it is to turn salt water into fresh water. The process mostly focuses on boiling water, which as any Brit would tell you, takes an insane amount of energy. Well, nuclear energy is the solution then. It provides an insane amount of energy for very little cost, which would allow for the mass purification of water. This would allow us to use near limitless water, you could even make it completely free for everyone. While I was thinking about it, nuclear power itself purifies water- Many powerplants use ocean water (Salt water), boils it (To turn fans, generating power), and releases it into the air as pure, clean, water. WHY AREN'T WE USING THAT?!?!- Water Vapour is the most abundant greenhouse gas, though it isn't as bad as CO2, as it only lasts a week or two. But still, despite it being clean and *mostly* harmless, no harm is better than a little :D We could recycle every aspect of a nuclear powerplant, the 'used' uranium still holds a lot of energy, and countries like France and China are already recycling them. So, like nuclear waste, let's recycle the water. 60,000 gallons of water PER HOUR are purified by nuclear power plants, let alone the 1 gigawatt-hours it produces in electricity. This could solve the 'crisis' while also providing the world with plenty of power, jobs, etc. The biggest reason we are running out of clean water is because we can't recycle it without using a lot of power. If we had plenty of power, from say, a nuclear reactor, we could completely recycle our water, never having to worry about it again. I got really excited when I came up with this, which is why this project exists- :3
